How often have the monotheistic faiths fallen short of the Rede in their actions? From Moses' slaughter of the Midianites on down the history of monotheism has been written in blood. Almost all of it was shed because people were absolutely sure they had THE RIGHT ANSWER. Given the pile of corpses that lie at the base of absolute truth maybe its a good thing to have a faith that really has no use for the concept and instead keeps its moralizing to a bare minimum.

The Christian Bible doesn't go into specifics. Lot slept with his Daughters in a cave after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorra. Alot of Christian heritage is taken from Paganism. Holy Water, Ritual, Worship, belief in a Heaven (Summerlands, Valhalla) the use of prayer as well. Really interesting!! I never thought of it like that before. When I was a Christian, to somehow rationalize why a loving God would do such a thing, I fell into the "God dosen't send you there, you send yourself" crowd. As far as I am concerned, belief in Hell is incompatible with the belief that God is good. As I have evidence that God is good but no evidence for Hell, I know which to dismiss. I believe the need for others to be damned is a sign on insecurity in one's own faith.

How often have the monotheistic faiths fallen short of the Rede in their actions? From Moses' slaughter of the Midianites on down the history of monotheism has been written in blood. Almost all of it was shed because people were absolutely sure they had THE RIGHT ANSWER. Given the pile of corpses that lie at the base of absolute truth maybe its a good thing to have a faith that really has no use for the concept and instead keeps its moralizing to a bare minimum.

If you used that same form of logic, there has to be a solid standard for every problem, in math you would almost always be wrong. If the ultimate math truth was 5 then 1+1 would always equal 5. The Christian Bible doesn't go into specifics. Lot slept with his Daughters in a cave after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorra. Although he thought he was repopulating the planet, he was still wrong right? The trump card is played when Bible characters don't appear to live up those Absolute Truth(s) that you mentioned. Alot of Christian heritage is taken from Paganism. Holy Water, Ritual, Worship, belief in a Heaven (Summerlands, Valhalla) the use of prayer as well. Wiccan see spells as prayer, the name has just been changed. The Jesus and Mary image is also the God and Goddess image of ancient Paganism as well. Even the belief in a Divine was borrowed. Paganism is thousands of years ahead of Christian concepts of truth and spirituality. Even the process of crossing yourself is borrowed.

It seems by what you are saying that you want free will without consequences. God let's us thumb our noses at him if we want, and gives us every chance to change our stance throughout our lives. But He also honors our decisions. If we want a life that is separate from God and want nothing to do with Him, he will give us what we want. I'm sorry if I in any way gave the impression that Christians are somehow scared into being Christian to solely stay clear of hell. I would say most Christians do not fall into that camp. Those who have had their hearts touched by God want to know him better and try to glorify him. ANd I agree, there are so many reasons to not follow Christ, the world sells us every excuse we could want to deny Him.

The last six commandments are pretty good, but the first four are specific to Christianity.
I think for them to be more universal, they should've been;
1 take care of your body & health
2 know thyself fully & be mindful
3 control your temper & pride
4 treat your family & friends better than you treat yourself.
I guess some bleeds over into the 7 deadly sins, and probably each other. I wish there could've been something in there about helping your community, but not at the time.

God does not punish. God is good. There is no Hell. God loves all.
If you need God only as a judge and punisher (God as abusive parent) then what happens if you cease to sin? Your bonsai God is then useless.

I would never banish anyone to everlasting torment. ANd neither would God. We choose hell for ourselves. If people refuse to see that Jesus came as a sacrifice for our sins, that God sent Jesus to be the "neon sign" to humanity that there was a historical point in time where God showed us all that Jesus was "the way, the truth and the life" and that "no one can come to the father except through me" then God honors their choice. We're either robots or we have free will.

When I was a Christian, to somehow rationalize why a loving God would do such a thing, I fell into the "God dosen't send you there, you send yourself" crowd. As far as I am concerned, belief in Hell is incompatible with the belief that God is good. As I have evidence that God is good but no evidence for Hell, I know which to dismiss. I believe the need for others to be damned is a sign on insecurity in one's own faith.

Yes, but notice that in Luke 23:34, Jesus didn't have to time to pray in private. And you are not quite in the situation He was in. Jesus tought that prayer is something to be done alone, and not in public.

i recommend you speak to your 'priest' about it. They know its fine to pray in public, Jesus instructed and there are many ways to pray son. Also you should respect your elders as the bible teaches and also if you think someone sins you should go to them privately as the bible teaches ...if you want to follow the letter of the law you should not ignor those scriptures either.

The bible is the infalliable word of God if there 'appears' to be contradictions to you then you need to figure out where you are missing it. Its happened to all of us, but there is always a logical explaination. People have been trying to prove the bible wrong for centuries, NON have been successful, many became believers trying to prove it wrong.

WISDOM is referred to as she similar to a boat is referred to as she. But its clear from the original text it is NOT done in the sense that wisdom is 'a person' construed with 'sing' as a feminine noun. The belief that the HOLY SPIRIT is a goddess or even wisdom a goddess is a PERVERSION of the scriptures by satan, Luciferians do the same thing btw.

I made a mistake concerning the Holy spirit, it wasn't that the hs was referred to in the feminine, but that in the original text, there
were no pronouns at all and that the he, his etc, were added much later, men deciding that it had to be a he. -shalt have no other gods before me.
Words to an ancient people, written by men, *plus* the fact that God is God is Goddess is God. All from the same place.

Yes, I have read of that too. That the original term meant "poisoner", one who provides either poisonus drugs or spells intended to harm. Which has nothing to do with witchcraft as known in the USA or most European countries.
