What town with middle/working class people doesn't have crime and drugs? It could be worse, you could live next to a giant ghetto with a million angry negro's who are just waiting for the power to go out so they can riot. It can't be that bad.
It isnt just oshawa. its ajax, pickering, and whitby. they keep taking down farmland and squeezing people in. they now have to widen roads, but thats only going to accomodate the traffic they cant accomodate now. it will still be worse once they complete all the other row housing they arent done with yet. going into or out of durham to toronto is going to be next to impossible in the next year or so. i feel bad for the stupid people buying the cheap row houses thinking they are getting a deal.
The crime rate in Durham Region goes up by the day. The traffic going into Toronto is horrible on a good day. The cities are being filled with ugly cookie cutter houses, and there are no jobs. The more people they squish in, the worse the above is going to get, and then all those "pretty on the outside" homes are going to be worthless - not that I would spend a cent on one now.

By car, from Toronto to Oshawa, it takes no more than 40 minutes during non-peak hours. The peak hours, or "rush hours" are in the evening between 4:00 and 8:00. If you travel from Oshawa to Toronto, the peak hours are between 6:30 am and 10:00 am. If you decide to drive during peak hours prepare to be on the 401 for 1 1/2 hours or so. Another option is the Go Train. It is quick and cheap.
