@zanaomusic yah..she developed her vocal nodules when she was i think in 5th grade, her voice is naturally in an alto voice,its raspy and low,but because of those nodules,she gained the ability to go higher,from chest voice, to head voice, to whistle register,but they got worst in the daydream world tour, and it affected her chest voice abilities,but i don't care,still she can hit high notes,she can still sing, and mostly she can still write musics that can touch peoples lives, and hearts..:D
this is a ridiculous performance. and yes haters, IT IS LIVE. ; I also thought it was lipsync in the beginning because she sounded just like the cd but on listening closely to the rest of it you can here subtle differences. and not so subtle ones like when she says heady and sublime at 2:22 and drifting at 3:15-3:21. also the drifting close to the end is different. but hey, the fact that she came so close to the record on a live performance only reinforces how great she is. great track & album.

True but there's things she can't do now that were easy for her before. I like the vulnerability her voice has now but during the Daydream Era and even Butterfly her voice had vulnerability and power.

to all the haters who say mariah only sang wispy in the late 90's when her voice had gone WATCH THIS! This is Mariah at her best (although I prefer vocals from 2001-2006) and she could do the wispy parts then too.
it's not all bad, but she is a shadow of her former self , even though the former self wasnt actually real...i still prefered the image Tommy Mottola created, it made Mariah the legend she is today, and is the reason why there will always be people buying her stuff....kinda like Michael Jackson too....
who knows how she would have ended up, there is only senarios i can think of....
by keeping her orginal image and making more usual mariah ballads and pop songs she would have kept a loyal older fanbase, but wouldnt have broken into the urban pop/rap/rnb culture therefore negating all the profits there was in that sector at the time. so as a business standpoint, she probably excelled her potencial in the market share, but ruined her percepted integrity that the original mariah fans came to know

People are so demanding of singers like Mariah. Jesus. No wonder they kill themselves half the time. " Oh i wish she was still like this, or like that.....blah blah blah." Just appreciate that if even once something spectacular like this performance happens it changes your life. Simple! Thats it!! Don't be sad. Yes her voice is different now, but it some ways its better. Her voice has changed but it's not all bad changes, she does things now that she's never done before! :)

True but there's things she can't do now that were easy for her before. I like the vulnerability her voice has now but during the Daydream Era and even Butterfly her voice had vulnerability and power.

to all the haters who say mariah only sang wispy in the late 90's when her voice had gone WATCH THIS! This is Mariah at her best (although I prefer vocals from 2001-2006) and she could do the wispy parts then too.

it's not all bad, but she is a shadow of her former self , even though the former self wasnt actually real...i still prefered the image Tommy Mottola created, it made Mariah the legend she is today, and is the reason why there will always be people buying her stuff....kinda like Michael Jackson too....

who knows how she would have ended up, there is only senarios i can think of....
by keeping her orginal image and making more usual mariah ballads and pop songs she would have kept a loyal older fanbase, but wouldnt have broken into the urban pop/rap/rnb culture therefore negating all the profits there was in that sector at the time. so as a business standpoint, she probably excelled her potencial in the market share, but ruined her percepted integrity that the original mariah fans came to know
