This was my first Bruce show. Having not experieced much of Bruce's music, I took a gamble and drove up from Tulsa, OK. Because of this stellar live performance, I've traveled to a dozen or more of his shows since. This might be my favorite version of "The Way It Is."
This was an awesome show. I can only get about 9-10 minutes of video with my little kodak, but for a camera the size of a deck of cards, the audio is awesome. I waited for this song so I could get the whole thing. Definitely worth the wait. Too bad about the drunk a-hole whistling, spilling beer, and burning people with cigarettes. The only thing keeping me (and others) from putting him to sleep is my peaceful nature, and the fact that I was in the presence of greatness.
hi, the album version is not uploaded on the Tube, probably cause of copyright reasons, peace. this is a good live version though, best greetz to the uploader.
That G-D-F-C chord thing at the end of his middle solo is awesome, combined with those semi-chromatic chords at the end! Sweeeet! You can tell he was having a good time...totally improv ending.
Nice music. A classic for over 20 years. Wonderful performance. (Shame about the idiots in the audience. But persevere listening, most of them stop, so it's worth it. :)
Check out Frankie Moreno and his band perform this Bruce Hornsby song! Go to either BetsysView or Frankie Moreno~ The Way It Is (Bruce Hornsby). Tell me Frankie isn't great! And check out his piano work!!!
Sounds like it was fun gig, interesting how behind Bruce you can see the piano container with the writing "Baldwin" when he now only plays Steinway's. It may the case he used during his touring with the "Range" and during the 90's. Are there other songs from this gig?
Incredible. This man has a million hands, or so it seems. Such life and light in such poignant music. :) Love it.

Loved it when he switched from "The Way It Is" to the one of Bach's "Goldberg Variations", just like that, effortlessly.
Man that was great!

Pretty darned good for such a small camera. We just saw him at the Pageant and I have to say that the paying crowd is a much better audience! =)

He should let his original song live and admit his stage presence is over. An Elton John he's not.

Wow, whats with that helicopter flying by at the beginning? I'm surprised Bruce didn't notice it! Great sound!
amozartii 3 years ago
The helicopter was giving rides out over the river during the whole show. Kind of a cool visual with it taking off behind the stage.
