  • when is this

  • Woah!! Brian can actually move onstage!! No wonder he was so happy during this show.

I think if they both still performed together regularly, that would be a truer incarnation of the Beach Boys (more original members, better attitude and better musicians) than the Mike-Bruce half (got anything against them, but Mik'e's live performances sound bad and corny, unlike Brian's). But of course, the best would be to have all four finally reunited wich I don't see happening at all;that would be nuts.

  • @begbieboy Do you think Al and Brian will be together for the 2011 50th anniversary tour?

  • @YouMuseMe Al's career depends on the Beach Boys, I'm sure he's willing to do a reunion, whether with Brian, with Mike or both. But let's face it, Brian's happier going solo and the Beach Boys give him lots of bad memories. I'm sure he won't do a reunion tour. Sure, Brian is good friends with Al but friendship doesn't equal musical collaboration. The most plausible I think is that the three of them will do anniversary tours on their own and maybe Brian and Al will share one or two casual gigs.

  • @YouMuseMe Sure hope so! They are great together.

  • man brian goes nuts when al starts singing. I think deep down brian would love to do a show with all the guys again, but he's just unsure about mike. Mike claimed they're going into the studio together later this year (2010), maybe Mike will earn some trust back from Brian and they'll do some shows.

  • One of my all time favorites. Had the great fortune to meet with Al after a concert at Duke University back in 1982. We talked in great length about his home in Big Sur and especially about Brian. Unforgetable!

  • Brian seems so much happier with AL! Brian didnt have this kind of energy when I saw him in Boston.

  • Jeff Foskett on banjo!

  • Love it Shame Al doesn't always tour with Brian.

  • big sur the promised land indeed,, nice version,,california saga...a gem of a song.. al and Brian make it work..too bad for the cut..sail on sailor also puts me in that good time groove

  • does anyone else notice how much happier brian seems when Al jardine is playing with him?!?! He wasnt like this when I saw him in boston in december.

  • You are right on. He clearly enjoys it. And Alan nudges him back on track now and then. They are great together.

  • @mdefil23 It's VERY true. He's happier. More energetic. More natural. No question.

  • Amazing, never knew Brian did this song live, cool stuff, one of the best songs Al ever wrote....

  • Super-tasty

  • KPIG

  • For 30 years ive had the holland album. Because of it I decided to take the kids to Big Sur 2 summers ago. Went back last year and will again this year. We camp in the redwoods. Thanks guys.

  • Al & Brian, whos next?

  • I wish that Al would be allowed to be a permanent addition to Brian's band.

  • he wasnt allowed to? please explain.

  • Real good performance, funny to have Bri do the intro that he did on the original Holland album, there it was sped up, but here not. Cool performance.

  • That Just Plain Rocks!!!

    Thanks for the share.

The medley you want to hear is the CA Saga trilogy on Holland. That would be killer.

joe from just south of morro bay in la

  • No medley.

  • Super clip! I wonder if they turned this into a medley (after the clip cuts off) with "Back Home". Seems that it'd be easy to combine these two shuffles. I hope Al sticks with Brian for the long haul. As good as his own live album was, Al hasn't come up with any new material in awhile, and it'd be great if he and Brian team up again.

  • They don't turn it into a medley, but that would be a good idea! Also Al has been recording a new album that features Brian on some tracks.

  • It is a genuine treat for true Beach Boys fans to hear such gems played again. Brian is so sincere in giving Al Jardin credit for writing CALIFORNIA SAGA. Love and mercy.

  • Hel, Brian's really into it ! Love this stuff. Thanks !

  • Wow, thanks! Looking forward to see them in Vienna this summer. :-D

  • This was Fall of 2006.

  • Is that really Al Jardine playing with Brian? Wow! What year was this?

  • @TheTravelingThumb live at the Keswick in Penn. on Nov. 19th, 2006 :)
