Neal's Original. In fact, Neal's more original than Kevin, seeing as Neal was in the band back in '67 when it first formed, with Alan Gratzer, Joe Matt, and Mike Blaire. Kevin joined in '72, as their third lead singer. And, in my opinion, Dave is a better guitarist than Gary was anyways, because he doesn't have any sort of drinking problem.

I have seen REO at least 10 times over the last 30 years, most recently in 2001. Not once did they perform this song, possibly their greatest work. Apparently they are finally playing it again.

@mccrackin1000 ummm this song was written by reo speedwagon. golden country was originally written by gary ritchrath, the guitarist, who got kicked out in the late 80's for alcoholism...

The lyrics to this song are so prophetic. I love the way Kevin delicately presented the song. Obviously it "could" be a super smack in the face of someone if he wanted to set it up that way. I think he couldn't have been more graceful.
