  • I miss you, John. :'(

  • John Denver singing the poem Flight is just too much sweet irony. Next time fill the gas tank up Country Boy.

  • FANTASTIC YOU ALL FROM THE UK

  • Beautiful! Just beautiful.

  • @3211Victoria Thanks for dropping by. :-)

  • Thank goodness to find others who love John and his music so much.

  • This is one of my favourites of all time. The words are so profoundly beautiful. Thank you SOOOOOOO much for putting this here. I miss you very very much J.D. You were a great man and your compassion and music are sorely missed.

  • @lilgrublet Thank you for ALL your comments. This beautiful song although not written by Mr. Denver suits him so well . his love of flying for one thing. Like you I never tire of listening to him and sometimes it's like hearing him for the first time all over again. The songs he wrote himself mean different things to me as each year passes. He is indeed missed by so many.

  • I just uploaded this to my facebook page on this January 28th, 2011 .....The 25th Anniversary of the Challenger Disaster....... As a Pilot I think this song fits the day...Thank You John, and Thank You...Challenger !!!

  • pure poetry

  • I love these lyrics....miss you John!

  • I felt as though I was right there with John as he sang this beautiful song. I was lost in it also...the voice of an angel. cat, lovely video to match the words with John in the background. I hope he has "touched the face of God". Thank you!!!!

  • He managed it all with such style and grace. If anyone ever touched the face of God with their feet on the ground and their spirit beyond, he did.

  • I'm surprised the comments here seem to be thanking John Denver for the words. Most of them (not the chorus) are from "High Flight", by John Gillespie Magee - a poem every pilot knows. Denver gets credit for putting it to music and sharing it, of course.

I heard him sing this in a documentary about NASA, probably at least 25 years ago now; I looked it up because I've never forgotten his version in all that time.

  • Thank you very much. :-)

  • John was wonderful - looking into space when most people were looking down at the gutter.....

  • @ScaeanGate

People have asked me why I love John Denver's music - I never could have described it as well as you have put it in one sentence. Thank you

  • Fabulous!

  • I just love the lines..

Up, up, the long delirious burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace

Where never lark nor even eagle flew

And while with silent lifting mind I trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space

Put out my hand and touched the face of God

    RIP JD x

  • So beautiful....a song that reminds me of how much I still miss what could have been............"reached out and touched the face of God." RIP John.

  • Some really great shots from the Wildlife Concert.
