  • sweet!! good job!! how old were you when you started? and what kind of skates do you use? thanks:] im still using my piece of crap riedell blue ribbon.. haah

  • thanks! check out my 10/08 video - axels in that one are much closer than these:)

I was 3 when I started skating, but I quit for a long time. I picked it up again in 2006. I've got SP Teri Super Teri boots with Coronation Ace blades. The boots are SO stiff, though.

    What are you working on?

  • axles!! and i can do my lutz' but i cheat!!(yes thats right.. its possible to land jumps and spins with blue ribbons!!) its so hard! haha... im in fs5 and ive been doing it since i was 10!!! workin on getting my mom to get me new skates! my coach is gunna like.. KILL me if i dont get new skates! haha

  • oh, wow - you definitely need new skates!! I'm impressed you can do so much in blue ribbons. Good luck with your lutz and axel. I'm getting impatient with my axel. I want to land it uncheated already! :)

  • i know!! every time i come to my ice rink with those blue ribbons my coach is always like.... kayleigh... im going to ring your neck!! GET SOME NEW SKATES!!! lol...well i have no tips cuz i suck really bad at axles.. but you can like search for help vids on youtube and see if that helps! how many times a week do you practice??

  • haha...hope you get new skates soon! I practice about 4 times a week right now. Wish I could fit in one more day.

  • And your cat is sooo sweet!

  • You are on the right track for the axel just pull in quicker in the air!

  • thanks:) I just put up a new video. Axel's gotten a bit better - I'm still short 1/2 rotation.

  • don't worry, you're on the way. Just don't put stress on yourself and dont rush anything. give yourself time and as you get used to it, you'll gain more confidence and start adding the height and snap into it in time. i know it feels scary at the beginning. it goes away in time. you should do on and off ice preparations hundreds of times. Luna is like my cat she's cute! Tabby cats rule! :)

  • Thanks for the advice! I'm working through the scary part & trying to not be afraid of falling. I do need to work on it more off-ice.

Tabbies are great:) Luna is so playful and loveable.

  • axels r horrible

    i hate them

    yull get one soon hopefully:)

and yur spins look grate :)

    keep up the hard work

    xxx

  • thanks!!

  • Luna is so cute! But... was that the ceiling on the top of Luna's head???

Anyway... Sorry I know nothing about axel... so I really can't help =[

But I guess I can wish u luck. So... Good luck on your axel! =]

  • thanks! Yeah, our family room was added on to the back of the house, so it has a slopey roof. She was sitting on the top of the entertainment center, which comes up to about a foot under ceiling.

  • good start on the axels :) You just need more "snap" and height. Next time, try them from a tap-toe.. I was never able to do them from a complete standstill.. I still can't.. haha. What I like to do to warm up my axel, is do a really high waltz jump (from the intro that I'll be doing the axel from) and then do a loop from a RI 3-turn (with a lot of snap) :P .. that helps with snapping into the correct air position :)

Anyway, Luna is adorable! I wish I could have a cat.. but I'm allergic :(

  • Oh, P.S... I passed my Silver MITF and freeskate this morning :D. I made sure to watch your test before I left :P

  • yay! congratulations!! Onto Gold...

I don't think I'll be testing Gold until probably winter or even next spring. I need SO much more speed on everything.

  • My coach had me do them from a moving edge tonight, and (after I got used to it), it felt better than trying it from a standstill. Good idea about doing a waltz jump and loop from RI3 beforehand. Getting the snap is what I'm finding the hardest right now.

  • Awe cute cat :)

Anyways, it's a great start. To me, it kinda seemed like you were either really scared, or you just weren't jumping high enough. If it's a fear thing, no worries :p Everyone goes through it :) If it's the not jumping high enough one (which I'm thinknig it is as i look at it again) You really need to concentrate on bending your knee and hitting the toepick. That throws you up into the air, and gives you momentum (sp?:P) To make the rotation! Great start though, keep it up :D

  • thanks for the great advice! I tried really bending my knee and jumping up yesterday, and I think it helped. I just can't be afraid of falling:)
