There used to be a superb clip of Deanna with Robert Cummings 1940 in Last Waltz where he conducted up a song and she sang and they danced an incredible scene..if anyone can find and repost it would be great.thanks
OMG... ALL new sopranos need to listen to this woman sing over and over and over until they can sound just like this incredible angel !! She is and always will be the best !!! MGM was just STUPID to get rid of her, there would have been room for her and Judy both, since they have such different singing styles.. what a DOPE that Louis B Mayer was to get rid of the lovely and splendid Deanna Durbin!
This is one of many videos I have uploaded that has been subjected to a phony copyright claim by "Orchard Music". This is a public domain recording. Please do not click on any links below the video. This criminal conduct by Orchard Music should not be rewarded.
I chanced upon a CD by Deana Durbin and then a DVD '100 Men and a Girl' acted by her. She played an honest little girl who found a purse and returned the same to the owner who was so impressed with her singing. She managed to convince Leopold Stokowsky to cancel his trip and conduct a 100 men orchestra. I Love her interpretation of Ave Maria by Bach-Gounod. There is so much sincerity in her sweet tonal rendition. I recommend it to all music lovers.
That's Deanna singing? I've just started watching some YouTube videos with her in it-- I've never heard her sing until now. WOW. I didn't know her voice was so operettic!
I own a DVD collection of Deana Durbin. This one is great, but my favorite is 'It Started With Eve'. In it, Deana and Robert Cummings made a great screen couple and were hilarious together.
I once watched a documentary on Anne Frank and learned that Deana was one of Anne's favorite singers. Interesting, but not surprising. Most girls (and women) in the '30's and '40's loved and idolized Deana. Too bad there aren't many (if any) singers with her vocal talent on the billboards these days.
the best i have ever heard

I am only 47 and I have several of Deanna Durbin's CDs and a couple of her movies. She had a beautiful face to match her beautiful voice.
