  • why does horses refuse to jump are they too scared?

  • @TheMidnadarkness It could be that, but its mostly because the riders are making a mistake, either that or it could be an injury. But I dont think this horse has an injury. It could have easily gotten scared...Could be the rider too. You never know, sometimes! :D

  • I hate whips Dx

  • @sparkygamer101

    i hate you.

  • 90% of mistakes is the humans fault

  • WOW !

Horse- No mama i dont wanna jump that!

Person- Comon we have to do this! its an A-Rated Show!

    Horse- NEVER!

    Person- Whip

    Horse- OUCHIE! fine

  • All horses will refuse sometime. Its usually the rider anyway.

  • Based on the way you rode the first jump, I'm not surprised that your horse is leary to jump with you again! You popped his mouth on the landing and sat too soon! 99% of refusals are rider error!

  • thats sounds really bad. but i dont ride at Arated shows so i dont really know what that is like by the why what is an Arate and what is it all about

  • sit up and dont lean into the jump maybe? ha.

  • @3dayeventer oh! sorry I was thinking Hunter paces >.< Hunter pace on the brain hahah. Sometimes it depends on if it's a casual show or not. I remember my friend telling me a horse can't have anything restricting the judge's view in an U/S class.

  • Omg I have a bunch just like this!!!! Check my vids!!!!! U r a great rider by the way!!!!! U r Very excellent!!! Is this ur horse?

  • the horse wasn't being bad the rider rode him there to a nothing distance

  • lol i had a refusal at an a rated show to!!! and also on a white pony!!!!!! Check my Videos i have it posted

  • hey can a horse wear open front boots in hunters? ( i am a jumper wanting to do some hunters so i am wondering)

  • @3dayeventer101 Horses can wear any type of boot in hunters, as far as I know, or none, for that matter!

  • @JustBecause110 thank you!!!!

  • @3dayeventer101 Anytime! :) I'm trying to find a pair of open fronts for my horse, Talc.

  • @JustBecause110 No they can't! Boots are prohibited in hunters.

  • @3dayeventer101 Hunters are not allowed to wear any types of boots or polos. Martingales are allowed in over fences classes, but they cannot wear one flatting. This class is an Equitation class, hence why the horse has boots on.

  • she should have waited and put her leg on the horse. not get his way. and never let him turn the way he wants to. teach him...dont let him get away with that

  • This is in the Raleigh Indoor. I recognize it anywhere

  • He would have gone over it if the rider didn't lean up the neck a stride away form the jump!

  • Can i ask something, i ride english and do a little show jumping for fun and my teacher always say that i must sit on my but and lean back before the jump. But in a lot the hunter jumper video's i've watched, they sit the whole time in almost 2-point or something xD (i dunno what it called in english). even before the jump. Is this just the hunter style of riding?? just wondering. btw she does a very good job and has a really steady seat :D

  • I do hunter u don't have to sit forward u have to sit back if u don't know wut u are talking about don't say a word

  • @monetfamily123 ... What are YOU talking about?

  • @monetfamily123 You have to sit back if you are jumping?!!! You're an idiot

  • @MissHeatherAnn1 How is a horse supposed to jump with you on their shoulder? You always, always, always must sit tall.

  • @liberatingstrife i didnt mean a lot, just more so then jumpers. im sorry you misunderstood. also, jumpers and hunters have different jumping positions and different ways to set up for the jump

  • @liberatingstrife When did I say you should not sit tall? You should always have good posture when riding. I was talking about not leaning back.

  • @monetfamily123 i do know what im talking about, perhaps you misunderstood. im sorry if you did. i just meant theey lean a little more forward then jumpers.. not a lotalso, jumpers and hunters have different jumping positions and different ways to set up for the jump

  • In hunters ur suppose to lean foawrd and you can fall off easier

That is why i will be a jumper. Lol

  • Notice how she drops her eye and shoulder. And then whips him. If I were that horse I'd be like wtf lady ;_;

  • Is that a horse named J.J. if it is. . . . i love u baby and willl visit u soon <3

  • If you don't set your horse up for a jump at all you should expect him to refuse, not smack him for it...

  • I love how she whips him abusively at the end. Stupid.

  • he's just refusing

    wow

but hey i love the way you kept ur posture and you have great balance

    btw, the horse is stunning

  • is dat at the horse complex in NC [: ahha !

  • wow this is an A show shes just a bad hunter rider with a stick up her butt and a bad trainer obviously. She leans with her shoulders and brings her heels up with no leg at all. Her first jump was just as bad and she didnt do anything about it.

  • She was leaving early, the first jump she left about a stride earlier. Then on the second jump (where he refused) she leaned forward and the horse knew it couldnt leave that early and stopped. Or she was nervous and leaned forward and the horse felt her nerves. The second time she anticipated that he would stop and still didn't make her horse go! oh well..happens to everyone

  • well that sucks.

  • I first refusal I can understand, but the rider really should have been more agressive the second try. She knew the horse didn't like that fence. Did she make it over the third try or was she DQed?

  • there are pleanty of horses who refuse at huge how like pony finals

  • i would've refused too...

  • Bahaaaaa you wrecked that video :/

  • i love how your title says "a horse refusal at an A-rated horse show!" like its impossible for a horse to refuse just becuase its an A rated show. news flash. horses will refuse with a shitty rider.

  • Another news flash: I KNOW. I ride horses, I'm not just a spectator. I've ridden at all levels, including this one. I am also a judge, and a highly ranked one at that. My horse is a difficult ride, and has refused with me at this very jump before. People cruising youtube, however, may think that all "A horses" are perfect and don't refuse. This interests them. If you don't like, don't comment.

  • @Paintmare06 I agree, about people thinking all A ponies/horses are perfect. (or horses/ponies that win in genral at any shows are perfect!) My pony is not a stopper (knock on wood!) but he is FAR from easy to ride and it takes awhile to figure him out. But once you understand how to ride him you win and do great at shows. I have another friend and he pony sometimes has days where he stops, but when he doesn't he wins too! And people are surprised when they get on the ponies and dont do so hot.

  • @Paintmare06 Um wow first of all when you post a video you have to expect to get negative and positive comments. People are aloud the express there thoughts and if you don't want them to you should have disabled the comments

And now now lets try and be a bit more honest when we post coments ;)

  • @ashleyfield71 just because a horse refuses the jump, doesnt mean the rider is shitty. things happen u kno!!!

  • @showjumperluvr4 i never said all horses who refuse are due to a shitty rider but i do know that this was the riders fault completely. she leaned forward to early telling the horse to take off at a spot it knew it wouldnt be able to make so it stopped. if shes showing at this level she shouldnt be making those little mistakes.

  • @ashleyfield71 i guess ur right im sorry just next time be more clear XD

  • @ashleyfield71 its not a shitty rider i bet she rides better then you!

  • @JackAndArora how about you you read my other comments before you jump to conclusions. i never said this rider was a shitty rider! and there is no way u can judge my riding since u have never seen me ride.

  • @ashleyfield71 you never said she was a shitty rider...? "news flash. horses will refuse with a shitty rider."

  • @JackAndAror do u not know how to read or something? i said READ MY OTHER COMMENTS! i was not talking about this rider in perticular!

  • @ashleyfield71 so it doesnt matter if your saying "news flash. horses will refuse with a shitty rider." and the horse refused then your saying she IS a bad rider. :/

  • @JackAndArora im ignoring you from now on becuase clearly you are to stupid and immature to listen to me or read my other comments which clear things up since ive had the same argument with the owner of the video/.

  • @ashleyfield71 Well honestly horses will refuse with a good rider or a bad one. Sometimes they don't like the jump the first time and won't take it. But after that, a good rider will get the horse over it the second time.

  • omg i no where this is i show there all the time!! that facility is soo nice!!!

  • Her and her horse were probably just having a bad day. Maybe she fell off while she was warming up and her confidence was a little shaken.

  • hah wow...awesome job completely letting your horse get away with that

  • Haha, anyone eles see that four strides back? ;]

  • i live in nc too ^-^

  • hmmm... I don't think the horse is being "naughty." I think he's being honest! rider's ahead of the motion, not driving the horse toward the jump. not the horse's fault! I'll go back to watching show jumping videos instead of hunters, thanks.

  • oh all u ppl who say "if u didnt lean forward" and crap just shut up. she wasnt leaning she was fine. the horseys just having a bad day :) mine did that too at a show i kno hows ju feel.

  • @Hope4Height Actually...she was leaning ahead of her horse. You could see he felt it and hesitated..and then stopped. Good horse...he probably saved her a fall..

  • hey i was just wondering, if i could use your clip?, if not then i understand, you will be told when the video is ready and of course i will credit you in the video, i am making a video of people falling off their horses and refuses!

  • Sure! That's fine with me :) And thanks for asking! :D

  • Wow....she shouldn't of lost a stirrup, and if she qould just quit leaning foraward, leaning forward, ---->,------------> It wouldnt of happened

  • what do you mean "she shouldn't have lost a stirrup"? she didn't do it on purpose!

  • NO......she shouldn't of lost her stirrup, because at her level she should not be losing her stirrup because the horse refuses.

  • Is this hunters or equitation? Typically in hunters, one is not allowed to have boots on the horse

  • If she would quit leaning at the jump and put her leg on, then that probably wouldn't have happened....

  • *if. wow im good. and do people just go around watching videos to criticizes? really? get a life guys, it's not like the rider cares.

  • damn. i would kill myself is that happened. an A show? -die- Embarrassing.

  • i no seriously if they think they could do better then they should post a video and see how good they r....

  • It funny in the equestrian world how people think that they know better half of the people who say "she shoudve done this and she didnt do that"probably cant ride themselves maybe we should just watch the videos and have a laugh at them without giving "pointers or "advise"

  • i agree. like seriously if most of them tried they would fail epically

  • lets learn to ride girly! she shouldve shortened her reins and rode that horse forward and behind the vertical all the way to that jump!

  • why is it on EVERY video of people with their horses doing things wrong, they ALWAYS critisize? Just watch the video and stop giving your useless advice. It annoys me ¬_¬

  • me too. its so annoyiing

  • that wasn't a naughty horse, that was a smart horse. he took a crappy distance for her in the first jump, but to the second one there was absolutely NO options. The second time around to that jump she could have gone deep, but she pressed up for an invisible long spot and he didn't have much of a choice.

  • She also dropped him both times about 2 strides out. She would have been fine if she had supported to the fence.

  • well to the first jump she punished him over it and hit his mouth which probably made him not want to take another one again

  • IMO, It actually looks like the rider made that one happen. She stared at the jump both times, slouching her body. She was also basically cueing her horse to jump two strides back. The horse was doing a great job and looking at the fence, not with tension but with a will to jump. I think when the horse pricked his ears, rounded his back, and shortened his stride she gave him mixed signals.

  • haha thats at the hunt horse complex, i do those shows all the time =)

  • That girl is an amazing rider!

    i love her horse ( :

  • aww that stinks.

but do you mean A rated?

  • An A-graded show is just a higher class of the show circuit. The higher the letter gets, or the more letters you get, the higher the jumps and the tougher the competition gets.

  • Well, the "proper" name for it is "A" rated, not "A" graded. Although I know that's what you meant.

  • Yeah, I couldn't remember the technical term. Thanks for the heads up!

  • You can also have different rated divisions at one show. The hunters may be B-rated for some divisions and A for the others and jumpers have a star rating in the U.S. So complicated!!!! I also tend to agree with the above; this rider looks a little unsure and took the gap to the first jump and came out of the corner and just didn't ride up to a decision soon enough. We ALL do that, so everyone being mean should remember their own times they have screwed up!

  • remember all of us were discussing what we would do.... if we would beat the horse there or wait to get out of the arena hahahahha

  • hayworth that just made my day!!!
