"We're bettin' on everyting we got on da rabbit to win...in fact...we don't even tink dat da turtle will finish....DO WE BOYS!!! NOOOOO BOSS NOOOOOOOOO!!!"
The 2 original "Tortoise Beats Hare" Bugs Bunny cartoons do have continuity with each other. The first one, Cecil cheats by using his family/friend turtles as doubles. This one, he outsmarts Bugs and gets the rabbit mob to nail their own guy. They fit together like bacon and eggs. Cecil was a cool character.
I missed watching this show. :') I used to watch this A LOT of times when I was younger. Even though I watch it repeatedly, I never get tired. And now, we have a school project to do, to take a fable and make a puppet show about it to play for the kids. This was the first thing I ran to. And now, watching it, AGAIN, for the 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000 time, it made me shed a tear. :') I LOVE YOU BUGS BUNNY NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY. <3
Wow! I must have seen this very Bugs cartoon a dozen times as a kid, but I don't remember the rabbit gang shooting themselves at the end! I guess Cartoon Network censored it?
you know? it's very curious the footage shows Cecil wining fair and square, when actually in the original short (Tortoise Beats Hare, Avery, 1941), Cecil defeats Bugs by cheating. But anyway, cartoons usually don't have continuity.
@MrDrawingboard1 He's the mean spirited, egotistical Daffy Duck (and Daffy didn't become that until around the Duck/Rabbit Season arc, or before that thanks to Chuck Jones).
@MicrosoftWindowsGuy - Wow! "Adolph Hitler commits suicide" - I never noticed that before! It's not the first time Termite Terrace was prophetic in that era (for those historically-challenged, Hitler DID commit suicide 4 years later).
In "Falling Hare", they predicted 9/11 decades before it happened. A gremlin was flying a plane toward two twin towers, and Bugs saved the day with a victory roll at the end as he seized control of the plane.
Actually, Hitler's suicide was 2 years later on April 30, 1945. Of course, I was thinking at half past 5 in the morning that this was the first of the Cecil trilogy, not the second.
Ehhh...NOW he tells us! Blam! Too bad the gamblin' ring committed suicide, right, gang? God bless! Hugs to ya, for postin' it! Hard to believe that Cecil pronounced the word as 'eye-ther'.
I think 'BringBugsBack' might have been confused by stock footage from "Tortoise Beats Hare" appearing at the beginning of the story. Yep, this is definitely Bob Clampett's work, not Tex Avery's. Bob was usually the one who had a character shoot themselves after seeing something "outrageous" {"Now I've seen EVERYTHING!!"} or commiting a major blunder {"NOW he tells us!!"}.
Oh and another thing....rabbits aren't very bright either
