In Parlimentary Law, especially in Jefferson's Rules, the chairman is suggested to use specific terms of formality and specific actions. That includes having a voice vote, ending with "In the opinion of the Aye's Have it." Same thing in British Parliment. Then, if asked for, division is used, which in the House of Representatives is called the Yea's and Nay's. Read up on Procedure before you go off and get all flustered.
You do know that that's how Parliamentary Procedure works, right? When it comes to voice votes, it's up to the opinion of the Chair to determine whether the Ayes or Nays have it.
If the Chair is obviously wrong, a motion for a Point of Order can be entertained. However, the Chair decides whether or not the Point of Order is in...order. So it's rarely used since it rarely works.

For those who don't understand. If Hoyer asked to table w/o saying "enough is enough" then simple vote can go on. But he engaged in debate. So debate should start. But she decided that "enough is enough" is not deemed debate and would not rule on that question. A parliamentary inquiry from the leader should of been recognized right-a-way but was delayed.

Your speaker is supposed to be a neutral presiding officer and the whole house can vote for or against the election of that person. In contrast, our speaker is partisan; and chosen because he or she is the leader of the majority party; and essentially uses the authority of the position to make sure the legislation of their party is moved forward. I suppose our speaker is more akin to your PM.

In Parlimentary Law, especially in Jefferson's Rules, the chairman is suggested to use specific terms of formality and specific actions. That includes having a voice vote, ending with "In the opinion of the Aye's Have it." Same thing in British Parliment. Then, if asked for, division is used, which in the House of Representatives is called the Yea's and Nay's. Read up on Procedure before you go off and get all flustered.

You do know that that's how Parliamentary Procedure works, right? When it comes to voice votes, it's up to the opinion of the Chair to determine whether the Ayes or Nays have it.
If the Chair is obviously wrong, a motion for a Point of Order can be entertained. However, the Chair decides whether or not the Point of Order is in...order. So it's rarely used since it rarely works.
Also, just for the record, Madame Speaker here is NOT Nancy Pelosi.

usucdik....nice name for a total demonratic fool. CA is a liberal land of fruits and nuts..just look at their elected officials in the whole state to bear that out. They voted for prop 8 not because they aren't liberal POS but that marriage should not be degraded to allow anything but a man and woman. MA has the most expensive healthcare in the nation and is unsustainable and on the verge of bankruptcy. You want to debate you little namecalling punk, bring it on.
