i am sorry but every time i watch american kendo videos i get the impression that americans should not train martial arts. they embarrassing them self most of the time, they just dont get the point of the spirit. maybe the watch too many movies. again i am sorry i am not meant to be offensive but this is dishonouring kendo.

It's not a dress. It's called a hakama and it's a pair pleated pants. The idea behind wearing hakama is that it hides your legs and feet so you aren't telegraphing to your opponent what you're going to do.
