  • very good, but are you not able to play this without these backup notes?

  • What's great about this vid? Well played and proof that the JMJ sound really comes this great Dutch Organ. /me hugs his Eminent 310 :)

  • Bravo panowie! Trochę sprzętu, trochę talentu, kwity i jest 'Garażowy Jarre"! :)

  • Yes, he used the Eminent for the melody and also the EMSVCS3 for the swirly effects. I quote from "Analog Synthesizers Understanding, Performing, Buying" Mark Jenkins "...the distinctive, whirling, abstract sounds created by Jean Michel Jarre... generally came from a particular set up on the VCS3 or Synthi A. Although simple, this can be surprisingly difficult to match on other instruments". ch 5, p 182

"Jean Michel Jarre featured the VCS3 extensively on his debut album Oxygene..." ch 3, p 66

  • To get the effects Jarre used here, the authentic machine would be an EMS VCS 3. They're really expensive (£4,000 I saw once). If you can find one, there's lots of bids or a high fixed price. I couldn't imagine spending that sort of money but the prices only reflect what people are willing to pay! In contrast, I saw an Eminent Solina on ebay that didn't sell for 99p! Some parts of this song will cost you much dearer than others if you want to use the same instruments.

  • @Laura041974 what are you talking about, jean michel jarre used the Eminent 310 unique in oxygene and equinoxe, wich is a dutch made organ from the 1970's, the organ is not built anymore, but it still roulates as second hand purchase on the internet.

  • How did you create the rhythm track?

  • I have an Eminent 1600 Orchestra that sounds pretty close to a 310 but I don't know how to connect it to a phaser and delay. I have a BEHRINGER VINTAGE PHASER and a BOSS GT3 guitar board with all effects including phaser and delay.Any help would be appreciated.

  • excellent!

  • bardzo dobrze. Zajebiscie panowie!

  • Can you send me the midi data?

Or issit Reason4? I would like to have that please :)

    Email me please Tom.

  • why you don't play the real song of lead...?

  • dude, why do you need the manuscript? If you know it - just play it. Or you just showing off?

  • Great playing, but I just love how you look like you have a casual way when playing.

  • Comment removed

  • Congratulations for a great play!

  • Bravo ! ;)

  • Dobrze, dobrze i ładny Eminencik, pozdrawiam :)

  • lol video

  • Very unique instrument... I´ve never seen in my life something like synthesizer organ... Great musical tool...

  • Hey, great video, I have a YAMAHA PSR-275 connected via MIDI to Joystick.

I have no web-camera, then in my videos I put pictures of my keyboard.

I invite you to my space, I have Oxygene and Equinoxe songs

  • It's not bad. But clearly you don't play by hearing.

But nicely done Thomas. I would love to have the money to buy this incredible organ.

  • Hmm, you know Jarre is no big artist playing live either ;-)

  • what's playing the accomp. ? is a playback on background ?

  • The video shows imho the lead melodic lines, by strings in eminent 310. the drum pattern is runnig by separated instrument, like a playback. the organ in the video is only timbred at the saw lines

  • It´s not synthesiser, i think it´s electric organ...

  • Correct, it's the Eminent 310 Unique Theatre. Usually it's passed thru a Small Stone Phaser to create the Jarre sound. Tho I see a small box in the upper left corner looking like that phaser, I don't hear it.

  • As a synth fan I'd say done well, as a Jarre fan I'd say shape it up.

Btw, I am curious what you're using as background, sequencer, synths etc..??

  • I think he's using a sequencer for background, it's trigger is on the keyboard

  • What synth is used for the sequencer on this?

I agree with Drsteve beneath me, might need a little more pizzicato on the lead, but a bit more reverb could also make a great difference in that respect. Allows you to go a little more stereo too ;-)

  • Good job. Hard to believe that two of the most iconic electronic albums of all time came from this goofy looking church organ. I think the main theme at 1:06 needs to be more pizzicato. I think you can lower the decay can't you?

  • Hey, it was built by the Dutch. What more do I need to say?

  • That it last :-) I'm restoring mine to former glory as we speak. It was built between 1972-1980 and was clearly meant to last. All components are easily accessible and most of all, servicable :-)

  • starałeś sie ale sorry za duzo wysokich jest tonów ale i tak masz u mnie duży +

  • Świetna robota. Wery wery good. 5/5

  • what do you call the book you are reading from?

  • good ;]

XD

    Grüße aus Dresden

  • schleimer :)

  • Actually is not so hard to play the song, the sheet is not so complex. There are some details that are not the same in the original play. I would liked to hear the effect that is unique on this track, but anyway nice live performance.

  • I dont think you get it. Its not about difficulty, its about MUSICALITY :-) Great music dude.

  • @RaykoDrg

The trick is the real Eminent 310. And yes this is not hard to play. But the original sound is hard to get.Thank GOD I have one.

Not any Synth or Sampler can re-produce this sound.

  • @ProbTron Actually Native Instruments Reaktor has a synth that combines the Eminnents sound with a phaser, specially designed to achive Jarre's strings and it's almost the same, the phaser is a bit different. With some workaround, you can improve it to almost perfection. I used it on a cover for Equinoxe 4 and it's pretty accurate. But you're rigth, analogs are hard to emulate, specially the entropy.

  • nice playing, where did you purchase the sheet music for gthis song.

  • really good infact spot on

  • Can you please upload a pdf with the music sheet? Thanx and btw that instrument sounds great..

  • You can quite easily obtain this music in sheet form off the Internet, why does nobody want to pay for anything these days?

  • Respekt!!!!

  • Chłopaki, błagam was nie nagrywajcie tego na mikrofon w betonowym pokoju. Pięknie gracie, a wychodzi masakra. Jeden kolega nawet pisze, że wprogramowaliście w drum-maszynie hihat zamiast werbla, co ja prostuje. Ogólnie wypas. Oby tak dalej. Podrowienia od Jarre fana.

  • The sound of the Eminent is really awesome. Good work !

  • what is name of this book with notes??

plz write me i'd like to buy it

  • cool

  • Not bad at all. I agree that the upper lead part should sound more staccato. Not in love with the drum machine part either. Enjoyed watching the wonderful eminent unique though! It doesnt sound like you're using any phasing... if you're using a phaser it needs to be turned up! I believe the behringer PH1 is a good cheap copy of the small stone that JMJ used.

  • originally in this song there is no used phase shifter at all!

Anyway, Phaser and Phase shifter are totally different thing. PH1 is not phase shifter. But then listen Behringer Vintage phase shifter, that is directly emulated to sound like smallstone! PH1 Is not made to be smallstone copy!

  • Ah, made a mistake. What I was refering to was the Behringer VT1 vintage Phase Shifter, not the PH1. I'm very pleased with its emulation. Is there really a difference between a phaser and a phase shifter?! Doesnt a phaser shift the phase? Please inform :)

  • in first part, on drum track it must be snare, not a open hi-hat. and many other mistakes, but sound like very good.

  • It's no "mistake" I think he used general midi song which can be loaded widely from internet, The bass sequence is same as in midi song; not correct.

Anyway do not comment other's variations to be mistakes...

  • That's not a hi-hat. It's just that he's playing in a room with a bad acoustic, and he's recording it on a microphone. That makes the slaping synthsnare sound like opened hihat. I guess :)

  • no pewnie że bardzo dobrze (% cudownie

  • I think it's played to slowly, but it's great! Also, the staccato lead played on the upper manual should be played more staccato...

  • Does it have an onboard sequencer

  • no. it's organ. He used computer I think...

  • classic oldie organ, great sound, the sequencing could be better, the lead owns

  • very nice... more plz!

  • Great video
