Quite frankly, Malmsteen's playing is extremely monotonous. You can't say it lacks soul, because soul is a very subjective thing, but what you can say is that its boring. Of course, at first it may be cool to see a guy play very fucking fast, but after the third or fourth time hearing it, it gets pretty old. All I'm saying is that he should diversify his playing. There's a time, place and song for everything. Little Wing, and any other Hendrix song for that matter are not built for shredding.

Just because Jonn writes better (or at least catchier) songs, doesn't make him a better player. From a technical standpoint, Yngwie's a thousand times better. I like the Chilli Peppers music (pre Californication only) way more than Yngwie's, but that doesn't make John a better player (and John doesn't write RHCP material alone). Now he appears to have motor skill problems as well. You can't compare a guy like that to Yngwie! John's now a decent player at best, but he's still a good songwriter. His skills have went down several notches, but even at his peak, he was never close to being 1/10th as good as Yngwie is.
if u listen to malmsteens song expanding his entire career you will notice nothing much changes...u hear the same licks and he doesnt really step out of his comfort zone MUCH. that doesnt mean he is not a good player

Speed isn't everything, you could give any monkey a guitar and they can gain speed, but the feeling and soul that made this song especially, are personal expression. The solo goes out of the whole blues theme and tempo of the song too. Listen to Jimi play it and you'll know what I mean. Yngwie never really impressed me, goes out of key alot too.

I love you guys that think you know something about music by using words like "soul", "passion", "emotion" and you really don't know anything. lol Is it just because he had some faster passages that you think it sucked? Should he have done more LCD and played more sloppy like Jimi? If it's speed that you object to, you must not have liked SRV, Jeff Healey, Carl Verheyen, etc... Soul means nothing.

Beethoven would do it if it was melodic. This is melodic. Even jimi outlined chords. He may not have played them in a sweep manner, but it's still outlining. It's okay if you don't like it...I'm just saying that it is only your opinion, though.

Wow super comment. Malmsteen always sounds the same, there's little variety in his playing. Same licks at a million miles an hour all the time. All that talent wasted because he is essentially, uninspiring. WE GET IT, YOU CAN PLAY FAST. Just because Jonn writes better (or at least catchier) songs, doesn't make him a better player. From a technical standpoint, Yngwie's a thousand times better. I like the Chilli Peppers music (pre Californication only) way more than Yngwie's, but that doesn't make John a better player (and John doesn't write RHCP material alone). I'm a pro musician myself, so believe me!

yngwie didnt play for almost three yrs due to wrist injury, after the operation he was told he will never regain full use of his hand, yes he is handicaped, not just by weightlol, his guitar gymnastics, and flying fingers, have suffered, still he is a founding father of neo classical, and developed the technx, most use today! all music is recycled individulisim!

zaccyo & mcgratdaniel: John Frusciante used to be an awesome guitarist. At one time, he was one of my favorites. Then he became retarded from hardcore drugs like heroin. Now he appears to have motor skill problems as well. You can't compare a guy like that to Yngwie! John's now a decent player at best, but he's still a good songwriter. His skills have went down several notches, but even at his peak, he was never close to being 1/10th as good as Yngwie is.

I agree, it looks like he thinks he should be headlining too. Speed isn't everything, you could give any monkey a guitar and they can gain speed, but the feeling and soul that made this song especially, are personal expression. The solo goes out of the whole blues theme and tempo of the song too. Listen to Jimi play it and you'll know what I mean. Yngwie never really impressed me, goes out of key alot too.
