the real beauty of china is the unknown villages, not the famous trip sites(like Great wall, Shanghai or Beijing Olympics sites, etc.), 'cuz only inside villages, u will know the real china and chinese essential cultures, especially the traditional folk residence - every province, even every place has its own style of housing design - tradtional china is much more complicate than u can imagine!
wow !!! it is so strange to see tagong like a desert ! when i was there 1 year ago (on the end of july ) after the winter all the surroundings was just green all over ! like an other place (you can watch it)
the movie is very nice i will go now for the second part :) take care
@monkeetime, most of your statement is true. But before CCP took it over from the Republic of China, Tibet was still a state of SLAVERY.There was no freedom. Dalai Lama was a dictator himself...so.
I never said anything good about the Dalai Lama... He is a douchebag, his primary concern is getting back into his posh Potala Palace... Funny that one man had a 13 storey palace in a land of shanties.
those who post 'free tibet' probably have never been to Tibet or even China. I can spend two days explaining how Tibet had never been free before CCP took it over, or how pathetic those 'free tibet'ers are, or how CCP is trying to protect the culture and religion there...but , wtf! Loosing culture identity is a common issue for all developing regions. "free Tibet' is just another piss-China-off strategy of anti-China groups.
While I disagree with the first part of your comment (Tibet was independent of China for a long time, according to the books I read, and that's all I have to work with...), the second part is true.
I have traveled the length of Tibet on two separate occasions, as well as Tibetan-dominated areas in India and Nepal, and by far Chinese Tibetans have the highest standard of life. The Chinese have put in hydroelectric plants, schools, hospitals, roads, train lines and airports.
All everyone else does is bitch about it, as if development was a bad thing. You can love the yak butter lamps all you want, but the Chinese brought electricity and commerce with them, and removed the bulk of social problems - Tibet was no Shangri-La prior to 1951!
Additionally, it is precisely the lamas who now cry for independence who are responsible for the "loss" of Tibet in the first place. Dalai Lama is a sham, nothing but a fraud. He is no authority on morality or peace - you don't hear him bashing Bush for the war in Iraq, do you?
And finally, as you said, that's just the course of history. You don't see Canadians and Americans returning any land to the natives who were completely destroyed by the newcomers. Same for everybody else. Russians in Chechnya, Aussies in Australia, Kiwis in NZ, Japanese on Okinawa, and so on... Learn to live together...
Oh, man, thanx, awesome comment!!! I was just waiting for someone to do something like that... "Free Tibet" is a personal peeve of mine, subscribed to by hippies and flower children that have no clue and even less brains... Go and see it, but don't fucking "free" it every time!
ive been there before!!!!
