One of the "modelists" credited at :12 was Butch Hartman- he went on to create and produce "THE FAIRLY ODD-PARENTS" for Nickelodeon (everybody's gotta start somewhere!).
I have not seen this in twenty five years, the eighties brought the best decade of my life. It is no wonder why I sharpened my art skills in the Anthro field in the eighties and i Drive an 88 pontiac Fiero, Eighties rule. the information age was begotten in the eighties as well as the advancement of the digital revolution. Born 1975 and will for ever represent the eighties!!!
I used to watch this with my brother (we didn't watch the live action series, just this one). We used to like it. The credits are cute, very R-S standard of the mid-80s.
I watched mostly NBC cartoons,Smurfs, Alf,(not Alf Tales) some ABC cartoons,The Real Ghostbusters, Looney Tunes and the only CBS shows I remember watching are Pee Wee's Playhouse, Hey Vern It's Earnest, Muppet Babies.
I was born in the mid 80s so I did catch up to the Punky craze, mostly during the syndicated years. For some reason I don't remember much about the cartoon.
The only Ruby-Spears cartoons that WB does not own are anything related to Petey the Puppy. Also, the R-S backlog out of reach for WB are Rambo and Lazer Tag.
other R-S shows under different ownership include Alvin and the Chipmunks (WB only owns TV rights, Bagdasarian Productions owns ancillary rights) and Wild West Cowboys of Moo Mesa
I was 9 when NBC made the decision to stop airing cartoons on Saturday mornings in 1992. When I heard it on the news, my first reaction was "Wait...NBC HAS cartoons?"
I loved Punky!! Never missed the cartoon on Sat. mornings when hey actually showed some great Sat. morning cartoons and not the lame crapola they show now. 80's Sat. morning cartoons where the best!!
i know, i think we were lucky kids, cuz shows back then were cute and we were innocent. I think today with all of these programs, kids have lost their innocence....nice memories watching this with my whole family....
It's kind of double-edged trade-off. Back then kids' shows had a lot of writing that was really bad, but innocent, as you say. Today, in general the writing is much better, but the downside is that it adds to the general culture's rabid determination to destroy anything resembling innocence.

I was born in 1983, so I remember watching Punky every Saturday morning during the late 1980's.

I also mostly watched ABC and CBS on Saturday Morning, but NBC had a few cartoons like Alf Tales and Thundarr the Barbarian.

Somehow we just missed that particular boat.

Thundarr was originally to ABC from 1980-82, but NBC did have Thundarr on their schedule from 1983-85.

Whenever I hear the "buh-buh-bow-bow" in theme, it usually reminds me of Barry Carl, and Rockapella...

It never got stuck near the end, I had trim it and snapshot it to get rid of the caption on the logo.
