I read once that if you average all the sports experts in the world, they're right less than 50% of the time, meaning most of them would improve their chances if they just picked the team they thought would lose.

I remember before the game, one of Nebraska's radio announcers saying that SEC defenses go for arm tackles and don't really know what to do if those don't work. It's funny looking back on it. It's almost like he predicted Frazier's 75 yard run before the game even started.

This was probably as lopsided a 1-2 match up that has ever been played in ANY sport. 62-24 and it was NOT that close. The Florida players were visibly scared midway through the 3rd quarter. Can't play on grass my butt. What a joke.

And what's scary is we'll never know how many teams were robbed of BCS titles by ESPN's constant hyping of the SEC and getting their champions in ahead of other teams with identical records. If this game took place today, Nebraska might not even get in: ESPN would've had Florida play Peyton Manning's Vols in a rematch from earlier in the year, like they are already trying to do with LSU and Alabama this year.

@epithalius I'm not saying it will happen, just that ESPN will always try to make it happen by keeping the SEC higher in their rankings. They move SEC teams that win up several spots, but drop SEC teams that lose 2 spots or 3 at the most. Look at South Carolina. Who have they beat? Yet they are #12, which helps the 2 teams that have beat them (Arkansas and Auburn) stay up in the rankings despite losses of their own.

@Ca7Cable No, I hear ya. And yeah, you're right, the push the SEC has gotten is pretty much bullshit. If an unranked team beats a top-ranked team in any other conference, it's a sign they're having an off year, but in the SEC it just shows "how hard it is to win!" I think by that logic the Big East is actually the best conference. Any team really can beat any other team there.

Look at Alabama: They scored 6 points in their loss, which ESPN tried to imply was the defensive struggle of the century yet others are saying may indicate lack of offensive power in the entire SEC, but 2 weeks later they're back to #2 in the polls. How is this possible? I don't think they'll stay there, since there's almost no way they can even win their division, let alone their conference, but the bias is there nonetheless.

I got a huge laugh from this in '94-'95 when I saw it live. I live in Kentucky and got to see the gators play a lot that year.Kentucky was God-awful that year and Fla. only beat them 49-7. I knew that Fla. would NOT be able to run the ball against Nebraska.Also Fla. was not that good stopping the run that year.

They CRUSHED florida as well as beating 4 teams that finished in the top 10 by an average score of 49-18. Oh and they also did this without their starting RB and QB for most of the season. Enough said. HUSKER POWER!!!

Criminals aside, I thought the rest of that Nebraska team had great guys on that football team. Those are the ones I remember and respect. They played great and showed great sportsmanship and class. Osborne was a great coach and mentor, and I have a lot of respect for him.

Yeah well, when Osbourne was willing to play a total criminal at RB who is now serving a 10 year prison sentence for the assault on his college girlfriend, who also happened to be an NU women's basketball player, I guess it's easier to get an edge. Currently, Phillips is serving a 31 year sentence, for separate domestic abuse charges, hitting three teenagers with his car, and auto theft.
