  • mine is from September 1996 yeeey

  • Is it normal for a genuine zippo to sound like a fake?

  • Just because you have an insert that does not have the same date markings as the outside does not mean that your zippo is fake. It just means that the insert was made at a diferent time as the case, i dont know why people have such a hard time nderstanding that?

  • Wow I was given mine just today and it is '02.

  • MINE IS REAL!! woohoo!

  • dear cutlerylover

my zippo has all the qualities of a real zippo but i got mine in cambodia for 4USD do u think its real or fake?

  • Yay! i have the real one. :)

  • I was just in Vietnam and got 3 for $10, im assuming theyre fake xD

  • my insert does not match

  • I've got a 1977 zippo slim I got from my grandpa. He bought it 30 or so years ago but the pins are brass. The marking and everything are right but the pins used in it look brass colored. Its the gold model with the tortoise shell covering. Is my zippo fake?

  • how much was the fake zippos

  • My zippo is made in august of 1995 (it say's I XV)

  • my insert is L 05 and outside is A 06? is this a real like 1st dan of A and last day of L? wtf?

  • @arttu9 your case was made a month later than the insert.

  • The sound is not a good way to tell if its real or not, different coatings will make it sound different. I have a few counterfeit Zippos that not even the Zippo rep could tell if it was real or not. You need a cam with macro. ; )

  • Honestly i don't give a fuck, i just want to be able to tell people that they have shitty lighters

  • @SovietFlavoredHorse Just don't let anyone know it's fake. ;D

  • @cutlerylover i bought several classic zippos directly from zippo in which the month marking a-l do not match between the insert and the case.. beings that i bought them directly from zippos website i know there not counterfeit but why is it that the only things that match are the year of manufacture like for instance the insert says "L" 06 and the case says "A" 07 is that normal?

  • @jgilk1 My Zippo has that too it just means that the case and the insert weren't made the same month (in your case it means that the insert was made in december 2006 and the case was made in january 2007. It doesn't mean it's counterfeit.

  • i really dont care if its fake.. it still looks awesome ;p

  • lol top comment, but i have one now cause' of Jeff. I frekin love it

  • wtf is G i got a G

  • @ArianArian1000 its july

  • my zippo has an E on the left side Zippo in the middle and V on the right WTF does V mean ._.

  • @ForsakenDuality V = 5 i have a zippo with XII :D

  • @ahighbalckguy awsome *-* mine has an L it was made in december an i went to the date chart and i found that a V means that it was maid in 1989 i think and it has the klick :'D ohh and i have a 2. question...

I have a zippo model but i doesn't say zippo it's a STAR II mark made in 1988

  • @ForsakenDuality i have a zippo 1989 and it dosen't say STAR II. i will check. and may be that someone changed the insert or the case. (check the insert). :)

  • @ahighbalckguy The insert says STAR I XD

  • I've Zippo The Pulse of America from 1994 bdw nice video (Y) ;)

  • i bought it from a store that had a zippo display case and everything, i have no markings on the bottem D:

  • dose it matter if you're bottom pad is rip were the screw is or can i just kepp it like that

  • why is china so retarded cant they buy one real zippo and copy it then there you would be no difference

  • @NRXTM I asked myself the same question. The answer is if they made a copy that isn't different at all from the original they could get sewed by the company. That is why they make it look like the original but make a small difference.

  • what the hell does it matter? fake zippos can do everything real ones can..it can do tricks and light stuff on fire.

  • @theredhawk345 its nice to have an original

  • i bought 2 "Star" zippos. they said its half real. my friend did too. i didnt have enough money and i want to start a collection.

  • Hey I recently bought one and currently own a few. they're all from the same store and all Real zippos. however the newest one i bought has nickle pins. It was made in D 11 so April 2011 right? anyways all the markings match on all the zippos and everything else sounds perfect. but the pins arent brass. so what up with that? can the brass wear off?

  • also zippo lids dont open and toutch the body

  • my one says f and 10 on the outside but h and 10 on the inside never knew what they ment untill now thanks

  • I bought my first in a shop many years ago and I didn't realize the inserts had dates on them as well, looks like mine had its insert replaced 3 years after the case was made. I remember the guy selling it to me for less because the case was dented.

  • i have a real zippo or atleast i think it is all the dates and markings are correct but it has brass pins would that be fake or did they start using brass..?

  • I bought a, what i tought was fake, zippo for like 3-4$, and it was real!

It was broken, and i got it repaired for free.. Zippo ftw!

  • o fuck myns not origanal

  • The bottom of my zippo has no print, so it's counterfeit, but I don't really care lol.

  • I am very loud and it's a lighter zipo of ((C-11-MADE IN USA Bradford)) and she's happy and I gave the original a lot on it I have collected from a beggar in my neighborhood 50 Lei and I'm interested in what year it is and how much;)

  • @cutterylover what would f zippo XV be?

  • @sw201444 June 1999

  • everything on mine complied with everything in order to be real, right down to the sound of the click. the only weird thing is that the word 'zippo' on the bottom is kind of close to the border.

the dot on the "i" is touching the border.

    what does that mean?

  • I just followed your zippo guide which I bought mine from a shop. It's 100% genuine but, I noticed something strange. The case is Marked E and the insert is marked D. Both parts are 2008 and it came with the mini book, the case, etc.

Is this a factory error or is this on the smoke shop for switching out the insert? I'm just curious. Both were in perfect shape when I bought it, solid white wick and full flint. Just thought I'd pass this by you, respond when you can, thanks bro.

  • when you think "zippo" you think of a type of design, not the brand

  • @ToxicLegend1 Except Zippos are made in the USA, employing Americans, whereas the knock-offs support sweat-shop labor.

  • @WesleySwafford chill, i was just speaking my opinion

  • nice video mate, thank you :) very interesting

  • I have JimBeam zippo is that good zippo ? :D

  • Nice video, but using the insert and the click are poor ways to determine the authenticity of a Zippo, as the hinge and hinge spring wear the sound will change.

It is all about the case.

Also, a brand new Zippo could very well have a mismatched insert, by date.

  • Does the letter on the case and on the actual lighter not match up for anyone else? ;)

  • I got mine at the factory, would be funny if it were fake. ;P

Best place to get them is honestly online from the official site.

That's how you know things aren't counterfeit.

  • you should have a giveaway for all of your unused zippos

  • @MsVikings69 or you can buy your own

  • The markings of my zippo are: 2000 , XVI but the months on the inside and outside are different. The outside has a J and the inside has E engraved on it. Is it fake or it is possible that the casing is made like 5 months earlier? :S

  • @duga91 PS: It has stainless steel pins and the sound is like a zippo one.

  • On mine the markings look real but the pins are brass! :( thanks for letting me know this way of distinguishing fakes

  • after watching this i went on ebay and right off the bat i saw 3 fakes

  • he almost said "a Z... a FUCKING Z!" i could tell LOL

  • That is GREAT information for new Zippo's users, Thanks for the information!!

  • My zippo says G 06 on it. Is it real?

  • Haha i bought my zippo brand new and the case was made in November the inside was made in October but they both were in 2009 and i got it in 2011 haha

  • Well great video I have one that is redskins and it's got all the real markings thank god

  • dude i just realised i payed 42$ for a fake.... :((((((

  • dude where did u get that paper thing?????????

  • @AnOnYmUs19971 just go to google a search zippo date chart and go to pics and print it off or save it on your computer

  • If the serial numbers on my zippo case and my zippo insert are different, but everything else is good, does this mean it's fake?

  • @1SlashRocks1 no thay ar usely out buy a mounth or someone has put a new insert in it

  • @awesmo1000 lol me 2

  • AND, my real Zippo is easier to open.

  • I have a fake zippo $5.50 with all genuine markings as you said lol.

  • Why am I watching this, I dont even have a zippo.

  • @awsemo1000 Dude I watched like 20 of all of his videos and I was thinking the same thing. I don't even have a LITER.

  • yo man i have a question i have a zippo from F 05 and it have a picture of a lady that smoke a cigarret her nam is olivia and i cant find it on the web is this a fake one???

  • @separate84 why would it be fake june 05 do u have the box because on the bottom there should be a number 1600 that is what i search in the zippo website and i wont be 1600 because that is a zippo slim

  • 2nd prestige emblem from black ops on the zippo at 4:07 so freaking cool i would get it.

  • Also genuine Zippos don't open at 180 degree angle. And the top bounces a bit after opening.

  • Mine says F on the bottom and E on the insert. However, all the other tells are correct. Is it likely that because E and F are one month apart that it was done at the end of the month and a batch was done one day for the shells, and the inserts another day?

  • @alpinemanlover So? That doesn't mean it's fake... Just that the shell and the insert were made at different times.

  • god damn ='( I have an "i" on the bottom and a "H" inside ='(

    the shell says:

    "Lady liberty"

    zippo mfg. bradford pa. u.s.a.

  • dis guy has assburger syndrom

  • when i got ZIPPO of zippo.co.uk it did not have a price stiker or a orange seal on it. is this because i live in england?

  • @danny320012 if you got it off zippo.co.uk it is obviously real thats the only 100% way you no your gettin a real zippo

  • Hey dude a friend of mine got me a zippo at the bottom it has an I and 06 but the core says H 06?? Its has stainless steel pins, and when I open it it doesn't sound like urs ? Do u think it's genuine ??? Let me know thanks my email is mayostick@hotmail.co.uk cheers bud

  • got mine today, its a Reg Street Chrome.

    born on K-10

November, 2010. same with the casing. costed me a mere 14$

  • Case is H VII and inner part is J VII

  • Dammit. I don't really care, but at the same time it's a sort of let-down seeing that mine is "Dehoo" or whatever. It still works fine, disassembles the same. I guess it's a sort of bastard child is all. Lol

  • @cutlerylover I have a 1969 zippo if I make a video on it do you think you could make a guess on the value

  • My Zippo insert was made in July G and the the case was made in April D of the same year 2007

  • my zippo has E 11 on outside case the inside actual lighter has F 11 so is it fake then?

  • @iTechEveryWeek its just not the inside it was made with, they could both be real parts:)

  • why do i want to know if it's real or fake? If it does the same shit as a real one i really don't care

  • I have a zippo that has two diagnol lines on the case and lid and on the bottem has a D and pat number 2032695 but also has XIV by the side of the big zippo is it real and if so how old?

  • just bought my first zippo today and the only thing unoriginal on it is the pin. i don't know if its brass or not but meh.. everything else is fine

bought it with 1.5 euros on an antiquity market

    bottom says H ZIPPO X

    BRADFORD,PA MADE IN U.S.A.

  • My first was a regular brush fine chrome, with a K and 09 on it, and Bradford, PA. I bought it on holiday in germany, at 12 years old :)

  • mi zippo has a b in the ut side and a c in the in side dose that mean its fake ?

  • @weezymaniako No you idiot, it just means that the insert was manufactured a different month.

  • why is the insert golden

  • Do you know much about "advertising zippos". Original Camel cash zippos to be specific

Do they have a different bottom?

    I have one says

1932 ZIPPO 1992 Bradford, PA. Made in USA

Insert is K 01 but I think I replaced it years ago

The zippo should say VIII and there is also No A-L

  • I have a real and fake Zippo. The fake doesn't have any of the "Authentic" markings (Case nor the inner fuel chamber), my real Zippo obviously does (Case & Inner). However, my fake, which is made of smooth steel, makes an "Authentic Cling" sound but my real Zippo (Made of a matte or brushed steel) makes a dull "Click". Should I be concerned?

My real Zippo is on the Zippo UK Website. It is part red part black on one face with card suite symbols (Club, Heart, Diamond, Spade).

  • I hav a star lighter

  • @TheEthanater i just got rid of one of those today for a zippo. got the star in london.

  • Cool, my 4 euro fake zippo has all the genuine things on it

  • @supporterFeyenoord ook dat geluidje als je em opent ?

  • i got my zippo at a cvs pharmacy and my grandpa was at the tobbaco counter and he told me how he had his first zippo and the clerk said ure not buying this for him(me) cuz im only 13 and he was all like noo :) and we tricked the lady and i got my first zippo what a day

  • @cutlerylover On your Real Zippo in this vid is the insert colored? because it doesnt look like chrome color it looks like brass??

  • Fake Zippos should be called Zipoos

  • Hey there, just thought I would share with that I have been collecting zippos for years now (400 plus and counting), I found a card that fits in your wallet for the date codes on the bottom

  • What about the 1941 replica zippos because both mine have different dates on the inserts?

  • i have two, one fake a one real, i bought the fake one becasue it has interesting texture on it, the quality is pretty much the same, it's just that one is fake and one is real.

  • The guy above me is gay!

  • I dont get it why dont they just use stainless steel pins instead of brass?

  • Hey, my zippo its F 09 its real?

  • @Omarinm BRADFORD PA made in usa

  • mine is same color and made same year as yours!

  • I'm not sure about mine. The pins are steel, indicating it is real. On either side of the zippo emblem at the bottom of the lighter, to the left is the year1932 and to the right the year 1992. Also the click when you open it is almost silent now. However, this may just be because it is old. I'm not sure though. Can you help?

  • Guys can you help me litlle. I bought "zippo" it has stainless steel pins, bottom stamp left is J right is 09 zippo logo Bradford.PA Made in U.S.A. so its just like real. BUT that was cheap only 15€ and i bought it from place that sells "fake zippos" Star lighters and else. so when i bought it i were sure that is fake, but it looks so fkin real. Oh and in lid there is text zippo and down is deputy sheriff picture. how can i be sure is it fake or real.

  • Hey guys I'm hoping someone will get back to me on this cause my case on my zippo doesn't sayanything on the bottom it just says zippo stamped on it but the insert like the actual lighter says B X and that's janurary 1994 I checked with chart so is mine real or fake I did all the other things and it sounds really and stuff but I'm not sure :)

  • Can i refill my zippo with charcole lighter fluid. Please help

  • @acarranza31 NO!!! USE ZIPPO FLUID. IT SAYS THAT IN THE FOLD OUT THAT CAME IN THE BOX. i warn u cuz i used lighter fluid in one of mine and bad things happened. lighter fluid for some reason is (this is an educated guess based on my experience) thinner. i will leak through the lighter (at least it did for mine) and when you go to light it your lighter will flame up. my zippo works fine now but it scared the living shit out of me. plus zippo fluid lights easier, burn cleaner, and is made for it.

  • @acarranza31

    i warn you not to.

    i once used something else.

i it blew up in my hand XD

en it was a miracle i didn't burn myself.

    please use the zippo fluid.

you can buy it at any tabbaco specialist shop or sometimes in supermarkets.

    just search around.

  • so... sharp click, steel like pins, punched zippo name, letters/slashes sorta things... ok thanks cutlerylover! now i know when im getting a fake zippo

  • Hi, Please answer this for me, I need help!

I bought a brand new zippo in the box. I looked on the bottom and it says "I Zippo 07". I took out the insert/lighter and looked and it says "B 08". I bought it new in the box at a zippo dealer. I don't understand? :O

  • your such a smart cunt.

  • 27 People Just Found Out Their Favorite Zippo Is A Counterfeit

  • also the silver nam one has like a faded body effect but the bottom is sparkling that looks fake either that or the bottom was protected during war if it were real

  • Do fake Zippos come in the little boxes with the guarantee paper and an add thingy like the zippo blue because

Myns a d11 on the case and the lighter

  • @manofman888 yours was made in april 2011. that is what it means

  • o shoot a russian zippo! lol

  • i got a A and 1. so january 2011?

  • @ericwashere12317

    It shouldn't say 1. it would be A 11 for January 2011

  • @ShadowsRage yea just at typo i meant to put that i had A and 11

  • @ericwashere12317 that must mean January 2001

  • @ericwashere12317 january 2001 not 2011

  • @philipbianchi manjy newer zippos have different dates. what happens is they make too many inserts for the casees so they use it next time and viceversa

  • nice.. mines a 97..thanks man

love the smell zippos..reminds me of 8th grade when i got it in 97

  • but when you buy a zippo, they have a sticker stuck to it, the vendor(seller of zippo wherever you are buying it) wont let u see inside of it and match the letter and numbers. :(

  • @Broodnoobpaw thats right...its a gamblew BUT it wont effect how it functions or its value at all...

  • @Broodnoobpaw The letters do not have to match.

  • this is really bad...i just bought one the last week...its all good i mean the sound all of those things that u said but there is just one thing..on the bottom the number is ''J 09'' but from the inside its ''K 09''..does this make her fake or ?

  • @123456789123456789ee mines the same, mine says c 11 on the case but the insert has b 11, it just means there were more inserts during febuary so they used them in march

  • thanks alot for all your videos. together theyve helped me restore the zippo my grandfather gavve me. turs out its from 1971!

  • I just got a zippo. I got it from amazon. The bottom stamp has D 11 for april of 2011. it has Zippo in the middle top part of the bottom, and the bradford, PA. made in USA on the bottom part. In between those there is a shield looking thing, with an A engraved in it. On the top part of the shield thing is a flame. Is it real? Every other zippo i've seen doesnt have the flame thing with an engraved A. The shield is like a rounded triangle. Is it real?

  • @Acaseofchaos yes! i have heard of these. it means that the "walls" are armored and they cost more money. they are sold on the zippo website. under armor zippos. not only is yours real, it is a better 1

  • @Acaseofchaos that is a real zippo. it is called an armor zippo that has 1.5 thicker walls or armor

  • I just bought a new zippo and the insert does not match up with the case. Is this a problem?

  • @dobrien09 no

  • @philipbianchi Lot of inserts and cases do not match.

  • i think its retarded that people are always trying to fake shit to make a buck out of it

  • mine says c 111

  • Mine says: "kantai® 02A Since 1989"

  • mine says A 03 , that means january 2003?

    and what that means?

  • @pyromaneak47 I'm not asking if it's a Zippo, I'm asking if its good or bad quality. Anyway, it's actually a licensed Led Zeppelin lighter, so.. It's not not good, I assume.

  • @taerinx Absolutely not. Armor, regular, and ones with emblems all sound different.

  • It's brass not gold and the insert is brass to

  • Mine says "Star-I". I was wondering if this is a good brand?

  • just subscribed, thought i did b4 tho when i got my first few knives...

  • is that a GOLD zippo? since the insert is gold i was wondering?

  • @warlord1121 i think it is brass, i have seen SOLID 100% GOLD zippos before for around $4,000
