Well atheism is a belief system. It is a faith. If you claim "there is no Creator God" then by default you accept evolution as a means of explaining how you came to exist. Which, by necessity, would mean you also must adhere to certain ideas and things that affirm your worldview. Unless of course you don't believe you exist at all in which case I'd say your argument really doesn't have any meaning whatsoever and would the be deemed irrational. Agree or disagree?
@Hoogz20 atheism is NOT a faith or belief system... it is the non-belief in gods... that is all... some may believe in evolution and some don't... the only thing atheists unanimously believe in is that there is no factual demonstrable evidence to support the existence of god or that he/she/it/they created us....that's it... nothing more, nothing less....
Atheist are idiots and want proof or evidence to believe in something well guess God is to pure and holly to appear to a scum bag you see God you die period
if you think you need faith to be an atheist, you're not an atheist. you're an atheist by default once you loose faith. it is something you by definition become once you do not have faith in theism. to loose faith in atheism is not possible, atheism is not a faith question, it is not a viewpoint. what you can do, is to regain faith in theism.
I feel like in "intellectual" settings like colleges and universities, it is just as easy to accept atheism as some sort of apathetic fashion statement, and there is no correlation with reason. Good video.
From the groups that I am involved with, while there is a high correlation of skeptics and atheists, I know of none of them that think atheist is in any way synonymous with skepticism. Also, I would rather be defined as an atheist because I think religion causes more problems in society than any other issue that skepticism deals with. I suspect that getting people to think skeptically about their religion would help solve more problems than to get them to apply skepticism to everything but god.
Why the need to define yourself? We (well, most of us) are far too complex to limit to a single or even a few characteristics. Faith in atheism doesn't really make sense anyway, so losing it is probably a good thing.
if you are losing faith in atheism, you are in the right path! :)

people don't need to replace their religion with atheism - atheism is less agressive than that.
atheism requires you to see that you can live without the insinuations supplied by labels.
in many ways atheism is the brand given by theists and those of faith so that they can treat them as outsiders.

@hellhound8652 If atheism is a faith, then what do we have faith in? Nothing?!
Stop trying to offend atheism, you'll only end up proving that you are a complete moron. ;)

You CANNOT be an atheist and lack skepticism. It's the skepticism that makes you an atheist.

I agree with your views, that's why i call myself an atheist when someone asks me what religion i believe in and that my ideology is humanism.
