I was right there with you shinerman69 back in the late 80s and 90s in Round Top, Carmine and Brenham. What great memories I have just going back and listening to Jeff Chance. Those were some good times I will never forget how friendly he was to everybody. R.I.P. Jeff
I knew Jeff and Mickey well-Jeff also played with a rock group called The Barons
at Riverside Hall in East Bernard- Jeff sat in about 8 years ago with The Velvets at New Years Eve Dance in Moulton and played steel guitar-I have Chance's record on vinyl and all of their CDs-I also went to there them at Firemans' Hall in Round Top on A Sunday afternoon festival one year- I really miss his talent-He was from the Danevang area- near El Campo which is on 59 between Houston and Victoria-
Back in the late 80s and 90s I we used to go to dances in Round Top, Carmine, Brenham, and every other small dance hall in Central Texas. They were great. I never new Mick the drummer was Jeffs brother. I was sad to here he had passed away back in 2008. We had some good times though.
I ran into jeff in the recording studio. A month before he died.I had him play fiddle on one of my songs. It might have been his last recording . R.I.P. Jeff.
Wow, this guy is awesome and I don't even like country. That old country honky tonk sound is pretty smooth. No wonder my mom was bragging on this guy. They were about the same age and she used to go to dances when he played with a group called Texas Pride, I think. I could be wrong, but she said the guy was awesome.
Now that's music. Jeff always did have one of the smoothest voices around. I knew him well, having grown up in the same area, and sharing the stage with him and his son on numerous occasions. Heaven has definitely acquired a great talent. We will miss you, my friend. RIP
what an awesome musician. singing the good ole honky tonk music. not this watered down plain vanilla crossover crap that is popular. this is the way COUNTRY SHOULD SOUND. Heaven and its inhabitants must be jumping for joy with Jeff there now.
RIP, Jeff. You and your awesome sound will be missed, for sure.
For many years Jeff's dad and my dad played in a local band together. He inheritated his love of music from his dad. How sad to lose sufh a talented man so soon.
It's still hard for me to except Jeff has gone on to join the big band in after life. What an amazing talent and inspiration he was to me on earth. The brotherhood of musicians IS my extended family. Jeff was always part of it.
