I am 17 years old and never before has a movie touched me in such a way. It saddens me to feel that no other movie will be as good as this masterpiece...it made me feel so moved, it made me laugh, cry, and experience things that those poor people felt in the movie. I only wish it was possible to hug Jack to thank him for such a gift of a movie!
Deservedly won ALL 5 major Academy Awards in 1975. Best Film, Best Director - Milos Forman, Best Actor, Best Actress, & Best Screenplay. Hadn't been done since 1939's, "It Happened One Night". Unreal ensemble cast, as well. Realistic portrayal of "mental institutions" were like in the early 1960's. My third favorite movie of all-time. Utterly compelling.
"Who do you think you are, crazy or something?" LOL @ their faces at 1:30. I'm currently reading the book - I find it interesting that the author decided to narrate the story from the Chief's point of view.
I work in a care home for elderly people as an assistant chef, when their main meal is being served the other care workers put on classical music, every time it comes on i think of this film the feeling is very surreal! This film is amazing, one that should and will never be forgotten.
Ken Kesey, the author of the novel, really wanted Kirk Douglas to play the lead. He told David Letterman he'd never seen the movie and never planned to, I don't know if he ever changed his mind. He pictured McMurphy as a more physically imposing man than Nicholson.
the parts that make me cry are when he tells them they aren't crazy, when billy stops than starts his stutter again and the end with chief and murphy:( it was such a great movie my dad made me watch it the other day....
From several people over the years, I've heard this movie was beautiful and amazing. Then, on a sale, I randomly saw this movie in the shelves and I decided to buy it. Now I've just watched it, and I have to say, this movie is one of the strongest, most special movies I've ever seen. Music is amazing. Characters is amazing. Story is amazing. Actors is amazing. If you haven't seen this movie or don't want to see it, you're really missing something. This movie is abseloutely superb.
what mistake are you talking about that's what doesnt make sense? and this is a really stupid argument i was making a comment and obviously people agreed with me fuck your annoying
@EEF21 It's the other way around, Knoxville looks and sounds like Nicholson a bit, not LIKE U SAID. Damn. Nicholson is older than Knoxville, just for your information..
I don't even hate the nurse; i don't take her side or jack's, i mean she had a hard fucking job you gotta admit..and once you get near the end you should really start to see from her perspective. I think the nurse in this movie is commonly, incorrectly identified as the villain. This movie is much deeper than that :)
i'm quite too surprise at the ending.. i didn't expect this kind of ending.. how come mcmurphy's the one who died finally.. he's supposed to kill that bitch.. n run.. why took him so long to choke that bitch..
