I am a green belt. (Whatever that means) And I find that both of their kicks have definite merit. The man is attractive, so I can see why an unattractive person would need to term him a 'faggot' as insecurity would require it.

especially spinning wheel... BUILDS:

1. incredible power/ no balance /attack with heel/Linear strike/DEADLY&RISKY

2. average power/ okay balance/ attack with whole foot(sole)/ Horizontal strike /prefer'd build

3. okay power/ Incredible balance/ attack with out side of foot/ curve strike(like rainbow :P)/ a kick that chuck Norris wouldn't even know cuz it's lame :P

To give them some credit, it is possibly they are trying to slow it down quite a bit so that it is easier for people to see. It's easier to maintain balance when spinning fast, especially on wheel kicks like this

Least he's not one of the cocky Soo Bahk Do practioners from my dojan, cut him some slack guys. But true, to be a black belt he should have WAY better form. Only thing I don't like about Soo Bahk is all you have to do is remember some forms and moves and you get bands/belts. It should be based off sheer skill.

I dont like to criticize on youtube, but I've been associated with Soo Bahk Do for quite a few years, and these guys are a disgrace to our art. I've seen advanced green belts with better technique and balance. I just hope martial artists outside of SBD don't get the idea that all black belt level practitioners of SBD are as incompetent as these guys. Trust me, they aren't. Most master instructors don't just hand out Dan certification to anyone...

this is a cool lookin kick kinda but in reality not a effective kick in any kind of fight because it leaves to many places for error. I have belts in both Muay Tai kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and unless you are Lyoto Machida, the current belt holder in the light heavyweight devision of the UFC, and a karate ace you aren't going to use any of these flashy kicks bottom line cool, kinda, effective not at all too telegraphed

Not necessarily true. I'm only a 1st Degree in Tae Kwon Do, but i've utilized this kick in a few sparring matches and a tournament. If you perform the move fast enough or at the same time as the other person's attack, it's pretty much a guaranteed point.

Belt rankings are Japanese, Muay Thai is not Japanese. Maybe you've been to some American place that uses them as an incentive, but that's almost never done. It would make me question how legit that place is and if it's really teaching Muay Thai.

I agree with hat you say to a point ... however belt rankings are european. They were introduced for practitioners of Judo because competition became an inbtegral part of the syllabus. Kyu grades are japanese but weren't designated by anything but experience, later a certificate. The only belts in traditional japanese arts are white and black, the black being black because of the dirt and wear through years of training. Dan grades were shown by the wearing of the hakama.

Never heard of total defence, but whether they teach something like MMA or not, the giving of belts in real MMA gyms that produce real MMA fighters is unheard of unless it's a belt in specifically BJJ or Judo or something like that. Any Mcdojo can claim to teach "MMA" and hand out belts though I suppose. Not saying that's what "Total Defence" is because I'm not going to criticize something I don't know about.

He gets it wrong when he says sometimes you need a little bounce to get off the ground. This is only true if you are rubbish! When you can pop up it is less telegraphed. Even at that it should only be performed to show off (I used this kick whilst sparring in my Dan grading - for a bit of extra credit). Oh and why use a straight leg after learning the correct technique of pulling the heel back to add more force to the striking point. Hmm...

i don't know about the rest of the world but i don't just talk shit about vids. i watch them and if they suck i say so. for instance, the guy on the right, when he does the back hook kick (yup diff. names) he needs to bend his knee and whip it out at the point of impact, it give it more speed and concussive force. as for the jumping kick: screw it, its pretty but if you land it on a solid target you fall down. don't try it.
