I went to HS with Janis. We had "Sing" competitions every year and she always had a lead part. Little did I know then. Sing was like what Glee is now. So much fun!
One of my favorite singers and a great performer. One of my favorite concerts, way back when, was a quartet with Janis, Jon Hendricks, Bobby McFerrin and Dianne Reeves, they were all awesome.

My God. I only happened by chance upon this video looking for one of their other songs. What a gift. A pure, raw force of channeled sonic energy. That's not "lame", it's the God's honest truth. What a gorgeous woman evn to this day.
just love her. her version of julia fordham's invisible war is more soulful and heart wrenching. i hope she makes another solo album again. what a true voice.
I totally agree. Janis did have a short lived solo career that actually had some great tunes. I think she could have had a better prosperous carreer outside of MT. JS singing "Mystery" from the Bodies and Souls Album touches me even more than Anita Bakers. Which Manhattan Transfer Recorded *before* Anita Baker did.
Janis's "short-lived" solo career is still going strong! Since her first solo project "Experiment in White" back in 1982-ish she has made another eight solo albums, two of which were collaborations with Fred Hirsch. The most recent one was "A Thousand Beautiful Things" in 2006. Check out her own website.
Thanks I definately will! She is A phenominal singer and This is the king of singing that touches the heart. This song is very Haunting to me. Gives me shivers at its beauty and eeriness.
I can not find this ANYWHERE else. Thank you so much. This woman is the most under rated voice of a generation. I LOVE HER!!!!!!

This type of music should stay always alive, not as a classic, but as an every day song....

In my humble opinion, there is no other female vocalist with the instrument that Janis' has - hers in an inredible gift!
