They work with powerful lasers, lenses, mirrors, and speacial filmplates not greenscreens, computers, and camers...well today I guess they coulod use computers for the lasers. It is physically impossible in the current age to have a physical free standing hologram as we have no way to stop light. if you were able to stop light in its path it would become invisible to you as the light would never reach your eyes to be processed!

One camera isn't going to provide a 3d image, you have to understand perspective.
Humans and animals can see in 3d because we have two point perspective, so the same has to be true for cameras, and in this case, the have multi-point perspective.

What they are using is Post processing. The big breakthrough is that it is being done almost real time. Robotic camera tracking, high def cameras, high bandwidth, high speed, low latency networking, and high speed post processing to put it all together in near real time for the audience. No, Anderson Cooper does not see the "hologram" except on the monitors. He is looking at a telepromter, just like a weatherman would.

maybe the semi circle starts from their front and ends at their back, because that's the range of the studio camera and IT never really goes to his other side anyway so a semi circle from front to back on his left side is all that's needed I guess

Uhm, how would you say a hologram works?
One camera isn't going to provide a 3d image, you have to understand perspective.
Humans and animals can see in 3d because we have two point perspective, so the same has to be true for cameras, and in this case, the have multi-point perspective.
So yes, it is an actual hologram, people saying that it isn't are just ignorant.
If I haven't made my point clear enough, someone else clarify it for him.

It is not a hologram. A hologram is something you can see wtih your eyes, not just through the TV. A hologram actually takes up space with light in real life. If youve seen star wars then you should know what a hologram is.

This seems pretty consistent with what is going on here. There was an image in the CNN Studio which changed depending on what angle you looked at it from, so it appeared to be a real person. If you look at Anderson Cooper talking to Will I Am by hologram, you can see how weirded out he is by it. That's not the look of someone who's talking to thin air.

What they are using is Post processing. The big breakthrough is that it is being done almost real time. Robotic camera tracking, high def cameras, high bandwidth, high speed, low latency networking, and high speed post processing to put it all together in near real time for the audience. No, Anderson Cooper does not see the "hologram" except on the monitors. He is looking at a telepromter, just like a weatherman would.

anything can be possible with our technology today. there is technology to virtually recreate earth into a visor you wear that lets you see any part of the world or mars simply using satellites and gps locations. and even show it in realtime with other people joining in from their home. i thought of this myself just putting together the technology that exists now.

This is new technology that has not been presented anywhere else live on TV. Although CNN doesn't need the technology in order to broadcast the news they can still bring to light NEW TECHNOLOGY and they did this by incorporating it in their own news broadcasting. CNN did the right thing by carrying this new technology to our doorstep. Let this inspire you and create new ways to literally look at anything.
