  • Danny Joe is a legend. Molly Hatchet were a band of immense talent, with some of the best guitarists in rock n roll - period. I was amazed when they added keyboards, but equally amazed at what a great album they produced. I think this track has stood the test of time and is now a classic. RIP Danny and Duane.

  • Any one who disrespects this music is an idiot...and listens to Justin Bieber...just shup up and listen fool...

  • This is garbage..I'm surprised Danny wanted any part of this song lol..i don't even want to see the credits ...You won\t see them doing this one in any of the new show..Even though without Danny they are nothing...I still think Hlubeck "or however he spells it" isn't long for this world if he doesn't drop that weight He can't even see his guitar much less play it , someone is going to mistake him for a beached whale and harpoon his ass..lol

  • Their most commercial album, a bit slick on the production side, but there are still some kickass songs on TDID, and they hadn't completely abandoned the Southern rock sound, as evidenced on "Good Smoke and Whiskey."

  • this is a kick ass song

  • i was born southern in TENN and raised in TAMPA FL when this band was rocking hard thank god 4 ROBERT E LEE RONNIE VAN ZANT LYNYRD SKYNYRD up in JACKSONVILLE FL and DANNY JOE BROWN this just prooves the south will rise again now i am back in TENN after 25 yrs and this band makes me wanna go back to the GATOR COUNTRY and fly like the FREEBIRD if there is a HEAVEN for SOUTHERN ROCKERS i know BOTH are there AMERICAN BY BIRTH SOUTHERN BY THE GRACE OF GOD they BOTH LIVE ON AND MADE US PROUD TO REBEL

  • Yea!! TURN IT UP!!!!!!!

  • TURN IT UP!

  • rock'n'roll

  • Yep this sucked was not long after there was the D JOE BAND,,HULBEK WENT TO BIG ENGINE ,,BB BOUDON HAD LEFT BEFORE THIS TO THE OUT LAWS WITH HUGIE,,AND HUBEK STILL JAMS WITH HATCHET AND BIG ENGINE,,AND BANNER IS IN A COUNTRY BAND AROUND JAX FL,,HATCHET STILL JAMS LIKE HELL WITH HUBEK,,,BIG ENGINE FACE BOOK THEY OPEN FOR HATCHET ALL THE TIME,,the first hatchet band only had 3 jax boys in the band DJ,HUBEK,BANNER the rest was from the other side of the world!!!!!!

  • Cool band..but they were searching for a pop hit when they wrote this song..

  • @fistchips They were forced to bend with the times back then, I remember reading an article Dave Hulbek, said they were reluctant to alter their sound but didn't have much of a choice, the record labels were gonna drop them if they didn't. The 80's ruined everybody back then. This is not one of their best, but a solid song though.

  • @APACHESKULL I agree..the music biz was taken over by doctors and lawers and such..that's why pop artists all sound the same these days..thank God for Indie lables..

  • Yeah...but they weren't the same as the Glorious beginning...

  • I grew up on Molly Hatcher, 38 Special, AC/DC, Hank Jr., Alabama, Skynard....awesome stuff and now my 10 year old loves it. The tradition continues.

  • Great song to dance to. I like the keyboards, they sound good to me. I alway's liked hearing the beginning of this song with the cool drum beat. OWE!

  • that mustache makes me piss my pants laughing

  • This was the beginning of the end for Hatchet. They did real music earlier, not this synthesized crap.

  • @LeonMontrose U R so right!!! This does not even come close to Bounty Hunter

  • Danny Joe Brown....the GREATEST Southern Rock voice ever!!!! RIP Danny.

  • This song is from "The Deed Is Done" from 1985, the last studio album they completed for Epic. That was the first album John Galvin did as a full-fledged member of Hatchet (he played keys on most of their other albums before that). They had one other single from that album, "Stone In Your Heart". That album marked Bruce Crump's return to the band (he was replaced in '83 by former Mother's Finest drummer Billy "BB" Borden, who was with Marshall Tucker the last I knew).

  • Grew up on Hatchet .Saw them 3 times on first album tour. Also saw them in Hampton VA before they were anybody .I play bass and they are big influence-as they should be with any good southern rock musician.

  • By this time like most of their contemporaries, the castration process was complete.

  • @korina95 I concur !

  • the only time live man it was a good song too

  • southern rock meets pop!

  • DAMN DANNY jOE WAS HOT

  • This song sounds A LOT like Shakin by Eddie Money. Damn I love 80's rock and metal music, definetly got me hooked to guitar, and I'm only 16, I was born way too late!!!

  • Molly Hatchet - they bridged the gap between hairmetal and southern rock, way better than Blackfoot en 38 Special did....

Btw: this one is lipsynced and alll.... The drums and solo are exactly the same as on the album

  • @Kingsnake77 Only three acts ever performed live on Solid Gold.Heart,Marshall

Crenshaw, and The Knack. All the others lipsynched

  • Molly Hatchet - they bridged the gap between hairmetal and southern rock, way better than Blackfoot en 38 Special did....

  • r.i.p. danny joe and duane

  • seriously, they didnt dress like that the times i saw them in concert.

  • kickassssss

  • My late uncle was good friends with this bass player, Riff West :-)....and he also drank a bottle of Jim Beam with Danny Joe! \m/

  • @SheaBearden My friend hung around after a show back in the early 80`s & Danny handed him his whiskey bottle & Jamie who isn`t a whiskey drinker said oh ok thanks Danny & took a swig That was in San Diego He also got to see the Rock N Roll Tonite show Unfortunately I missed that show but I got to see MH w/ Danny twice at the Baccanal in San Diego & at another club in San Diego nest to a skatepark

  • @LordGandor3 that's awesome bro! ;-)

  • I remember seeing this on Solid Gold when it was broadcast

  • Danny Joe Brown walks in the light,

  • sweet moustache

  • ..sounds tooooooooo disco for my raw Molly ears..........

  • Danny Joe Brown cannot be touched as a vocalist imho .RIP Danny Joe .

  • i miss those days

  • You can hear people at the TV set stomping, Molly Hatchet kicks ass

  • Thanks for posting this...NOTHING compares to the sound of Molly Hatchet!

  • Believe it or not, this was the song that introduced me to Molly Hatchet. They definitely knew how to rock.

  • This is the Molly Hatchet I grew up on!! I saw them in Sept of this year (2009) and I do realize we've all got a lil older but really could've done without the visual and kept the "Danny J Brown" visual of MOLLY HATCHET!!! I don't care what's said there will never be another as good as OR even matched with DJB and the Molly Hatchet Band !!!!!!***!

  • Jimmy Ferrar vocals on the album "Take No Prisoners" are matched. only by Danny Joe Brown. Molly Hatchet Rule.

  • i seen molly hatchet september 2009! they were amazing! do they still play this song live? dont remember if they did at the show?

    -champaign,illinois at it'll Do 2 Bar.

  • Danny Joe Brown is the "Mouth of the South"...period.

  • @tampa11001 amen

  • i love that song... about twenty years. didint think yhat those guys were red neck???

  • Where are these bands today? Thank God for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly hatchet continung the Southern Rock Flag!

  • R.I.P. DJB.

  • Damn... They had there shit together with the guitars and his voice... awesome sound!

  • Thanks a bunch for posting this Video.

    A+

  • as long as it was with danny jo it rocks just like your tribute to ronnie your gone but not forgotten danni rock on in the after life bro peace yall

  • Molly Hatchet is a great band rest in peace DJB,but the truth is They do not fit on this show solid Gold and this commercial crap that show has.

  • great tune! does anyone know where to find some tabs for it?

  • Thanks for sharing!!!

r.i.p danny. Thanks for the music

  • crisp clear sound rip danny joe your music will always be tops in my book

  • Fan or not, they sound solid and crisp. Well played set.

  • lighten up, everyone added keyboards in 1984. grunge killed rock.

  • well, keyboard player john galvin is STILL in hatchett and is the longest lasting member in the band... he has been there even longer than bobby ingram

  • wujinsith, I disagree. Rock will live forever!! as long as we keep the original recordings safe we can Rock until doomsday : )

  • This was definitely a record company with the wrong idea. I grew up with these guys in Jacksonville and this was not Molly Hatchet. Dont get me wrong, I like the song, as well as "Stone In Your Heart", and if anyone could have pulled this off any better, I dont know who it would have been.Record company screwed up, Hatchet rolled with it the best they could and didnt do a bad job with it at all. DJB did look good and healthy in this video and thats so good to see. Thanks for posting this one.

  • THis is when Danny Joe came back to Hatchet. Good album...but too commercial sounding...with those keyboards!!?? Had some good songs though.

  • @shakey64 They were definitely going for a ZZ TOP meets 80's pop vibe with this release.

I hear ZZ TOP 'Gimme All Your Lovin' type cheese Rock all over this.

    The keys SCREAM 80'S

  • i wish they would make a comeback

  • Best song off this album but still not very good in Hatchet terms. Band hit their stride and peak in 79 unfotunatly. DJB looks good here but, never liked Riff headband West on Bass and the addition of keyboards to this band are absurd..video is way 1985 too..Oh My wish I had never seen this.

  • Molly Hatchet 4 Ever

  • RIP Danny Joe

  • Wonderful song!!

  • I like this song.

  • They were on top of it in this phase.

  • Good job. I liked the song. Danny is wearing his wedding finger on his pinkie must of been after he lost his wife but was still thinking of her. I heard Duane took his wife and that upset me. Looking good Danny as always. May you rest in peace and sing to all the angels up above.

  • I saw Molly Hatchet 2 times at Magic Mountain.

  • This song is Molly Hatchet's attempt at pop\top 40 music. The keyboard, simple lyrics, it's all disposable crap. not at all like their original stuff.

  • it's a little slick but it's not bad...solid gold was very cheezy though!

  • Not sure I agree with "cheezy". A show like Solid Gold would do well today. There is nothing like it on TV now.

  • i guess all i meant by that was it was all done w/ lip synching...i watched it all the time when i was younger so i can't talk!

  • To many reality shows on TV these days.

  • @xyzmikey2 Indeed LOL Yeah retarded reality shows and American idiol arent cheesy ? LMFAO ! Yeah you have a point .... hahaha

  • @KENVAIL the bridge is very cheesy and very un-molly but the rest of it's not too bad

  • aw thats not nice they were trying!!lol

  • Hmmm.....the old stuff is better, but I still like that song! It´s not crab!

  • PISS OFF! THEY WERE THE ONLY SOUTHERN ROCK ACT LEFT IN THE MID 80 s. THIS WAS ACTUALLY A RADIO HIT. THEY WERE TRYING TO PROGESS. WHEN WAS YOU LASTEST HIT? THATS WHAT I THOUGHT!

  • Look folks... I'm a southern boy and will always be a HUGE fan of Molly Hatchet. HOWEVER listen to this song. The keyboard is what all 80's bands were doing at the time. Their first two albums are BY FAR their best work.

The proof is in their sales. When the lead singer got replaced it went downhill quickly. By the time Danny came back they lost their fan base. I love these guys as much as Lynyrd Skynyrd but they just aren't as good here as they once were.

  • Damn rockin' band....RIP Danny and Duane...Awesome to know you 2 are up there in the great band above keeping it real.

  • Does anyone have a video of Molly Hatchet when Erik Lundgren was playing Guitar with them ...Thanks

  • I saw Molly Hatchet in February 2001 at the Greenwood Civic Center in South Carolina. They put on an awesome show. Brian Howe also appeared, plus some local bands also appeared. Overall, it was a good show, something Greenwood had not seen in a long time. Hopefully, they can get some more nationally known acts to come there. They have professional bullriding there every February on Presidents' Day weekend. Any acts reading this, consider putting G'wood on your list.

  • Someone put the actual video back on here... PLEASE!! It is so trippin!....

  • Someone needs to post the actual music video for this.. man it is tripping, trust me. I saw it like 3 yrs ago on VH1 Classic.

  • That video was out here a few weeks ago, I saw it. Apparently whoever put it out here either removed it or maybe You Tube took it out for whatever reason.

  • love it, even though they were starting to go a little too mainstream with this song in the early 80's it still kicks ass...!!!

  • It sure is a good thing a Southern boogie-rock band featuring guys with long beards like Molly Hatchet wasn't paying too close attention to ZZ Top in 1984, because they might write a song like "Satisfied Man" - a song that sounds as if it actually WAS ZZ Top, right down to the production, chorus hooks and background synths.

  • With a little 38 special thrown in

  • Does anyone have the guitar tabs on this one?? I love this riff!!

  • HELL YEAH....Thanks for posting it.

  • this is pleasing

  • You got that right.
