  • Hey whazup???????lets put some knobs on Guitar's today that would be gr8

  • Who the hell is Frank Zappa??

  • @ilivewithangels Look it up on youtube bro Frank Zappa Black Napkins, Frank Zappa - Yo Mama pt 2.

  • he is so cute

  • what's the kind of music he's playing in the beginning? is that metal? it sounds so weird and technical.

  • He has so much crap on that rack even he gets tired of talking about it!

  • I would be so scared to do anything musical if I was Frank Zappa's son...

  • @drumttocs8 Nah, if you were him your genes would have definitely made you so talented that it would be a waste not to make music. You owe the world you know.

  • weazel zappa

  • 14:43 Oh noooooo!!!!!!! lol

  • Do (did) Ike Willis and Ray White ever perform with ZPZ?

  • @strokesonfilm I think there was some tension between Ike and the Zappa family over's Ike's "Project/Object" Zappa tribute band with Bobby Martin. However, when I saw ZPZ, Ray White was the special guest and he played/sang on almost every song. The man still has a great voice and plays a mean blues guitar.

  • Deezie gelato.

  • Long lives Zappa!

  • What studio is this?

  • no big deal...im just the son of frank zappa

  • Great video anyone bitching has never seen a Zappa Plays Zappa show I've been to five the 2006 best concert I've ever seen and I've seen 100's of concerts from ac/dc to van halen I think ZPZ really honors Franks memory and gives younger people a chance to experience Zappa don't get me wrong I love project object as well Ike Willis is great to long live Franks music

  • I want to ear SOUND, not words!

  • @bus18041981 in this case the words ARE sounds...

  • @spoon149 yes, and I am Jimmy Page.

  • @bus18041981 Find some audio files then!

  • Very interesting. Love the Hendrix guitar. Can't help but like Dweezil. THX GW.

  • Seriously the Zappa family needs to fuck off. Gail is claiming that we are not playing his music, "correctly", therefore we are not allowed to play his music in public, even though it is covered by performance licenses.

I think what Gail is really saying is this: "Noone but Dweezil can fuck up Franks music music" or "Only Dweezil can bastardize his guitar solos".

This makes me want to write an album about her, ZAPPA STLYE!!! oh yah...

    CONT>

  • @analyzingfunny

Enter Gail Zappa on a golden throne with marital aids stuck all over it, and ATM machines following her like little puppies(her greedy off-spring) wagging their tails:

Gail: down boys, down boys, you too Moony. Dweezil come downstairs i have something to tell you

    Dweezil: wut mom?

Gail: There are a lot of people fucking up your fathers music, and the atm machines are hungry

    Dweezil (picks nose) and so...

Gail: Well, we only we YOU to fuck things up from now on

    CONT>

  • @analyzingfunny

Dweezil: So does this mean Im going to have to work?

Gail: yes my son, only you have the legal authority to fuck things up and slop through shit

  • riverdance while playing guitar :)

  • If yo are interested in photograph ,you can browse my channel ,wish you like it and sub it .welcome to share the recources with each other.Thank you very much.

  • nice guy :-)

    great guitars, interesting details :-)

  • Seems like Dweezil inherited his Dad's work ethic.

  • lol he call's him Frank

  • what pickups are in that switchmaster?

  • OMFG!! That strat at 15:21 is LEGENDARY. One of the most iconic guitars in rock history.

  • dweezil filme chez frank! tellements de musique jouee en ces lieux chers amis!!

  • Largest rig I have ever seen lol.

  • wow, that's a lot of equipment. Can't say i'm all that impressed by the results but hey at least he knows the names of the pedals and what they do! Some guys don't even have a clue what a phaser is.

  • If you dont get it thats ok. Some of us have endless love for the music and respect for the humble Dweeze! The music will live on ...

  • I really wish there was a video showing some detail on UMRK.

  • @casestudyification NO, YOUR THE SMALLEST! there is a little bit on another clip here somewhere. A complete walk through all the dat machines, 2" tape ect, & board would be interesting

  • why didnt dork pan to the amp and pedal board when he was taking about em lame

  • Back in the 80's I had a 45 of Dweezil , his Pic. On it, let's just say his expression was something else,,,LOL....

  • Dweez, thanks for sharing, wish i could afford o come see your tribute show.....I had the honor of seeing your dad in concert once..he's always been my absolute favorite..he was in my opinion THE musical genius . He was greatly loved and is sadly missed.........thanks again .

  • 9:07

"ill be playing it on stage with some other guys guitars, like this stratocaster"

**please dont pick up that shitty black strat, please dont pick up that shitty black strat**

    ..."this white eric johnson strat"

  • this is cool. If you don't have to capacity to understand the music being discussed here, never mind the rack of gear, stop showing the depths of your intellect; it's about ankle deep at best.

  • Jesus christ does he have enough shit? That's not even a guitar having put it through all those pedals..

  • I'm wondering if the effects circuits in the guitar which /doesn't work/ are meant to be phantom powered off the XLR connector. It is usually just used for mics, but there is no reason other gear can't be designed to use it. Of course, the only way to know for sure is to take it apart, trace the circuits, and hope you can figure out how they were meant to work. A lot of analog stuff is simple, but some might as well be black magic. I'm guessing custom work inside Frank's guitar isn't simple.

  • why does he call his father "Frank" instead of dad?

  • @andrewvanrhoberts Frank wanted his kids to call him "Frank".

  • FUCKING ADVERTISEMENTS!!!!!

  • I would give my left testicle for a baby snakes guitar

  • This isn't a particularly complex rig. There's just a lot of stuff in it, but really, it isn't more advanced than more reasonably sized rigs used by other players.

  • Something tells me that this headphones do not do this man justice it's just something you gotta feel.

  • 37 don't have enough money to buy gear :P

  • 37 don't have enought money to buy gear :P

  • Dweezil has recently restored the Hendrix/FZ to just about where Frank had it in '77. The only difference (at the time of this writing) is the neck which is more like the '82 neck. I believe he has plans for adding a neck with a rosewood fingerboard. He recently showcased this guitar with Alice Copper on the Tonight Show and talks about this on his website.

  • with all that gear, carbon footprint of a single strum = me flying to NY and back

  • That burned strat is fucking REDICULOUS and EMMACULATE

  • Any guesses as to how much that guitar that Jimi Hendrix BURNT would be worth now? Sure its not original but still has a great history behi8nd it!

  • 15:20...... uhm.... what the FUCK did he do to earn that guitar. He shouldn't have been allowed to look at, think about, or breathe in the same room as that piece of history. Then he continues to metaphorically shit on it by leaving it under staircases and attaching random parts to it. Wow. ruined my whole day -- scratch that -- YEAR.

  • @Basebalfan18 He turned it into a useable instrument rather than it being left under a staircase and forgotten about. What's wrong with that?

  • @Brayds Seems like he could have donated it to SOME museum or charity auction or SOMETHING. It's not like he doesn't have enough guitars. He definitely wouldn't have missed it.

  • @Basebalfan18 I think it's better off being used by a notable musician rather than sitting collecting dust in a museum. The only original part is the body anyway! Guitars are meant to be played man. Regardless of how special they are.

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.................

  • God bless the both of them, but there is a reason that Frank & Dweezil never found main-stream acclaim, they muddied the guitar playing waters with 2 many unnecessary equipment add-ons & technique's.In the words of my 2 favorite axe men of all-time:"I just play a guitar man, that's it & that's all!"- Jimi Hendrix & Jimmy Page

  • he has more compicated rig than Joe Satriani... can't understand the reason.

  • Ich hasse diese bekackte Werbung vor Videos ... all diese Produkte werde ich aus Prinzip nie kaufen.

  • omg..turn on some reverb for for fucks sake!

  • zappa is like many others just a programmer and drive maker he usese animal magic

ray white is the rhino sheike yerbouti has a jerk and and asshole programm .

they can trigger them so be carefull there is lots a crap in the entertainmet bussines.

  • dweezil has a really borrring talking style...zzzz

  • all this for an AXE-FX, you gotta be kidding me

  • whats harder?: flying a 747, or learning how to use zappas rig to your own full benifet?

  • Nice commercial buahhhh

  • Love it. A musicians heaven. The Toys. I like the guitar and the rig. The studio too.

If I ever get one of those studios I am going to celebrate. That DBX compressor is awesome. Great peddles. Amazing how a patch bay system can be controlled from a peddle and make such incredible sound. Very cool gear. Thanks for the video. Zappa was amazing. Gibson makes such great guitars. Love the 335s.

  • @25johnathan thats not a shitty tone!

  • so much gear and such a shitty tone. what a pity

  • Do you ever get shit for being names dweezel??

  • It's amazing what the combined intelligence of humans is capable of, is it not?

  • My dad had a class with him in high school!!! :D

  • @WahhTheFahh Your cool points must have gone through the roof or in the basement

  • When was that filmed?... he looks so young

  • If you love Zappa you should check out LAGO -- > /watch?v=I8IuCZMjv4k

They're french and their first EP rocks !!

  • i don't know much about Dweezil, but does he even TRY to be his own person? living in the shadow of your father must really blow

  • @TCFBbob

If you had heard him play himself, you would not say that.He is rocking.:)

  • @TCFBbob Yeah, but there is a LOT of other peoples shadow that living in would blow a lot more. I imagine if FZ was my father, I would be enamored also. I think it's great that Dweezil keeps this stuff alive, and this video is great.

  • God, that SG is titties

  • @coffinshaker Titties 'n' beer...

  • Dweezil is one of the coolest people I have met after a show. Anyone who bothers to teach and talk to his audience is truly bound for greatness! He's there! Great show if you can get a chance to see them live!

  • Then he replaces all of this with 2 axe-fx's ;)

  • IF he wasnt such a gear addict he could recreate every single sound he needs from within one piece of powerful software like guitar rig, and do away with all of this hardware.

  • @pakleglia Thats true, I didn't mean to come off as a hard-ass, I just enjoy the music really. I wanna see P/O too.

  • @pakleglia If you choose to be alienated from those words, thats fine, I still however love Dweezil and plan on seeing him live again.

  • @pakleglia Source?

  • @pakleglia Dweezil? God no. Gail? Yes.

  • woah man, I cannot believe that is the famous guitar that Jimi lit on fire! I dont think I can think of a more famous guitar. Must be priceless!

And that huge switchmaster guitar is soooo cooool! yeahhhhhh!!

  • He certainly knows his instrument. Not sure about how well he can make a tune that a non-guitarist would give a squirt about.

Read Frank's book. Really appreciated his outlook. I've tried to give it a chance, but I just can't stand the music.

  • I've been following Dweezil as a performer since 1986. I can honestly say that I get more impressed with him every day. I am really eager to see what he does after ZPZ (whenever that may be).

  • He is not that hot a guitar player!

  • Hey Dweezil,

Are those multi pin receptacles on the guitars for Leslie 6 pin connectors?

  • Saw Z plays Z a couple of year ago. FANTASTIC!!! Loved Frank. Love you.

  • Dweezil is cool!

  • Who the hell names their son "Dweezil"?

  • @TheJonmarshall I think Frank Zappa does

  • @TheJonmarshall Hey, his sister got named Moon Unit.

  • fuck that lame fuckin commercial... life is not planned out like that... wt.f... google ... aint gonna get you married.....

  • It's funny that he designed that massive rig, and now mainly uses the Axe FX. To each his own.

  • I have always loved Dweezil's playing ever since "Having a Bad Day" came out. But I have to say that all this gear is COMPLETELY unnecessary. I don't understand how Frank and all those great players of that era could plug in a tear the house down, but players today feel the need to have $25,000 worth of effects to get the same sound. It doesn't make sense. Technology has gotten better, not worse.

  • so modest and just a good guy i think, god bless you

  • AHHHHHHthe strat from Jimi !!!!

  • @keitaro21 The crow jewel for sure.

  • AHHHHH the SG !!!

  • 6:33 that may work for him and what he's doing with his project, and that's cool.... but you don't need half that shit to get a good guitar tone. all you need is a good amp, a decent guitar, and be able to let your fingers do the talking.

  • @arising87 but they do help lol

  • @arising87 that may be so but if you had that amount of money wouldn't you buy all that?

  • @aj199508 no way dude. I'd add a couple more guitars to my collection, a couple more stomp boxes and I'd be set. you don't need rack after rack of gear.

  • @arising87 Great comment!

The gear just do frequency shit and overdubs etc.

  • @arising87 absolutely, look at jeff loomis he is straight amp and his tone is ripping the universe

  • @arising87 the rig's not used to get a "good" sound, it's to get Franks sound.

  • @arising87 YES, the fingers do, indeed, do the talking, BUT forms of expression are limited there. The effects are simply that, effects. I don't use anything but clean & distortion, BUT also understand & respect that Frank created something like a sonic painting. He already proved that he could play over & over.

  • @arising87 ahhh GTFO...

  • can anyone let me know when they come to philly,,please, pretty please

  • why would he say frank. shouldn't he have said dad?

  • The FUCKING ad plays just fine but NO FUCKING video that plays as ALL! FUCK THIS SHIT!!!

  • 4:38 Afro fuzz like a fuzz face but on steroids xD

  • I got so tired of ads, that i punched a hole through my computer...this is my sisters...

  • 12:54 Frank is probably rolling over in his grave hearing his son pronounce "Wagnerian" incorrectly.

  • @liquidtension Frank's probably more angry at Ahmet writing confusing books for dyslexics.

  • @liquidtension Sorry to sound ignorant, but what was incorrect about it? I mean, given

that the one pronouncing it speaks English as his native language?

  • He's smart.

  • I don't care 'bout FZ's sons!.. only Frank Zappa is the real great musician!!

  • I just saw him at the Warfield in San Francisco--it was totally amazing. They played Titties and Beer, and I Promise Not to Cum in Your Mouth.

  • You can hear his old man's voice in him sometimes :')

I expect he refers to his dad as Frank in the studio and on tour so as not to make things confusing for everyone he is working with, and maybe so as not to get emotional? just guessing

  • why does he refer to his father as frank and not dad or my father or whatever..???

  • I cant say I'm jealous of all that gear.

  • D:

That Jimi strat is a an absolute relic!

  • I didn't find success on single muslim.com

  • i wish that dweezil would heave show more of his dad guitars but this was also cool

  • Gott segne seine Familie über alle Maßen.

  • How interesting!! His rig is exactly like mine!!

  • And the Afro Phaser, which is like a fuzz phase but on steroids xD

  • holy tone batman!

  • /watch?v=OsTg0t1nQwI

    son, it's 2011

  • man, i need to rob something or be reborn rich so i can get all that SHIT

  • Very cool Dweezil! Interesting&thanks for sharing these things with us, what an honor to see&congrats on your Grammy Nom for Deathless Horsie, Rock Instrumental. Proud as hell of ya!!!

  • It would take me a year to learn how to use all that stuff!!!! I have a digitech rp1 made in the 80's and for some reason through all of the abuse it still works. I have a zakk wah and a boss sastainer and a volume pedal also bass and thats it lol.

  • One thing is for sure, in Frank's world, tone-suck wasn't an issue lol!

  • Screw all the fancy guitars and amps.... I'd just love to be able to play 1/10th as well as either him or his father.

  • @roxtar10870 If you could play 1/10th as well as Frank, then you could play non-fractionally as well as Dweezil.

  • @roxtar10870 i can play like them but choose not to

  • @roxtar10870 I'd like to be holed up in that place with a conveyor belt delivering hot bottled sausage, fluffy buns and cool clean water. The history of the kit IS important Rox...won't make you play or sound like the guy, but hey, I always thought he used an SG and an AC30. Quite interesting how much kit is needed to recreate a primitive "Zappa guitar" sound on Dweezils' tribute gigs. Frank might have looked like and played an idiot on stage but he was a unique and gifted musician/arranger

  • OMG totally geeking out right now.

  • <3 Hagstrom

  • All that gear, horrible tone.

  • "Whoooooa nooooo, whatdidhe dooooo"

  • Going to my 6th ZPZ show this December... they just get better every year!

  • Dweezil and the Zappa Plays Zappa crew I saw in the UK in June 2009 was absolutely awesome. He and the band are the only ones who could pull off the often insanely intricate patterns of Frank`s compositions.

  • His father would be so proud. End of.

  • Hey loved your dad i am 50 in january ,you are a great player too, so is your father. I love all the equipment, but I know you are saying when frank used this equipment instead of my dad used this equipment. I have kidsToo and I know you are talking to his fans. You are smart like your dad, mabe you could say dad used this and did that. I am a guitar player too, But honer what you are doing.

  • @jachel2000 You doooo realize that Dweezil Zappa didn't post this video? Nor will he ever read your comment and write back to you...I'm just always confused by people who write comments directly to famous artists on YouTube. It's almost like you people don't understand how the internet works!

  • I'd like to hang with ppl who can give away Hendrix's guitars. "Here here you go"..."Why, thank you, what? Keep it? Oh, ok. Thanks."

  • ...i want that hendrix strat

  • Wow..... just pick up a good guitar and a good amp and fucking play.... that shit is unnecessary!!!

  • It's curious how he only calls his dad "my dad" a couple of times throughout the entire presentation, but calls him 'Frank' the majority of the time. I wonder if that was something the producers of this piece wanted or if it was Dweezil's choice?

Does anyone know if Dweez & his bro's/sis had a very good or any relationship with their dad??

  • @sowhatdude1 I've heard him refer to FZ as "Frank" most of the time, so I don't think that it was something derived from guitar world or any outside input.

  • @sowhatdude1

They had a free relationship with their father. Moon Unit kind of regrets it, wishing she had a more traditional upbringing, the others didn't seem to mind.

As near as I've seen, Dweezil mostly uses "Frank" and occassionally uses "my dad" in interviews.

  • @sowhatdude1

They had a very good relationship with their father. Frank told his children to call him "Frank" out of respect. He wouldn't tour his fathers music if they didn't love each other.

  • 14:43

  • That stratocaster is LEGENDARY

  • hendrix guitar=jizz in my pants

  • Yep I got all that Dude. I think ?

  • @myeffy thats what she said

  • You can so tell that he's a zappa, he's so weird but awesome lol.
