Divide the federal budget 2.3 Trillion by population 300 Million, that's $7,740 per man, woman child. 2006 generic tax calculation for a salary of $40K is $6,800 deductions. I have heard the most ridiculous reasons people vote for McCain("because palin is hot," "obama is a terrorist," "he's a muslim"). I live in Texas and we have a bunch of these ignorant folks here.
