easier to adjust the dials and switches when it is facing up. I've experienced blade strike on Walkera 36, but not on 450, even during violent pumping up-down. I never fly inverted, however.
Note the gyro has some 3cm clearance to stab blade and even more to main blade.
I would put the gyro on the underside of the tail boom block if I were you, it saves it from damage if you have a blade strike.

Losing the convenience of adjusting the gyro once in a blue moon is well worth saving my $100+ gyro from a blade strike.
