my system freezes when starting the game. all I can do is restart. It also messes up the resolution of the screen.
I use ubuntu Intrepid and latest version of wine 1.1.24.

install wine. go to appdb winehq org , search for anno 1701 , do what is needed and to install launch anno 1701,and play it

still doesn't work. this time however doesn't freeze, only changes the resolution and disappears.

How did you get Anno 1701 to work on WINE? The WINE AppDB doesn't have a good explanation.
