Notice the one theme these bands have in common is the occult. Only King Diamond added Satanism in his lyrics later on after M.F broke up. As he said recently Mercyful Fate was about religion and the occult and that the King Diamond albums are more about his Satanic Philosophy with the characters and story's and themes on his albums and that he includes the occult and horror within the storys

hai i'm a death metal fanatic at the moment (lamb of god, revocation, all shall perish, and of course...Death), and i wanted to know what the best black metal bands are to get into right now. i've listened to bands like arsis, black anvil and darkthrone and i really like what i;m hearing atm. btw this type of music seems to owe a lot from doom metal with its fuzzy riffs and hazy atmosphere, can anyone validate this?

THIS is exactly what's wrong with BM now. When I was a teen in 91-92, the whole thing was sooo mysterious, it was so hard to find out anything about the bands / members. The element of mystery, combined with philosophy was what attracted us. Obscurity, darkness... Now it's all interviews this, documentaries that, stupid attention-seeking everywhere, and fuck me, by of all people Fenriz... You young'uns will NEVER get why this was awesome back then, coz your world is all about over-exposure. :(
