It's not just the vocals that were re-recorded. The drums were as well - or at least the drum track was remixed (lots of compression and reverb added). However, the mix is very nice and shows how Kate really worked her ass off on this song, which she clearly loves.
nice suzie, i wouldve put the new vocals 180 degrees out of phase and also put the track 6 ms behind the rest to avoid the slight phaser noises. But then again Im a smart arse geek.

@ngiyaxolisa I think I used Magix Music Maker, but it has been some time now. ;) It didn't cost me a huge amount of time, the songs already fit together quite well. Sometimes I head to make very tiny changes in the timing to make sure the two songs would remain synchronised.
Fascinating mix - I'm going to listen with headphones whilst on dialysis over the next few days, and I'll tell you whether it stands up to repetition!

Little hard to hear the old version, but brilliant idea. New Version is so much more haunting vocally, but the younger Kate was probably more apt to actually experience love like that.
Been trying to do this myself on the computer. I find that both songs are timed differently, and thus, go out of sync after awhile. Its seems you've played around with it enough that, that doesnt happen. : )

What a fantastic idea - the only female voice who could possibly do a duet with Kate in 1978 is Kate in 1985.

Bloody brilliant job - but it is the original insane ultra-high vocal that still grabs you.
And well done for getting rid of those awful drums from the 85 version and retaining the 85 KT screams!
