  • I have a 4100 at my school

  • OH OKAY

  • Not to be rash or anything who's male voice is that saying: Attention Attention Attention an emergency has been reported?

  • IDK, it's computer generated, and according to the techs, he has no official name.

  • I know that's the default voice message for Simplex 4100, 4120 and 4100U systems. In fact, I've been told that two of the buildings at Bridgewater State College (East Campus Commons, has a Simplex 4120 system with 4903 speaker/strobes; Kelly Gymnasium, has a Simplex 4100U InfoAlarm system with TrueAlert speaker/strobes) do that same voice message too

  • I think they should install Stopper IIs over the pull stations at UAlbany. They have them over the pulls at certain buildings at my college, mainly the ones that still have the old Simplex T-bars intact. However last summer, when they replaced the old Simplex horn/lights with new SAE horn/strobes in one zone, they also removed a Stopper II from one of the pulls. And when they replaced the old pulls in the swimming pool last winter break, they put new Stopper IIs over the new Faraday Chevrons

  • We're generally not prone to false alarms, although there was a big string of them at the library this past semester. The campus police tell us the pulls have ink in them, but I don't believe them.

  • Ah. I told my old high school principal that they should install Stopper IIs over their pulls (Edwards 270-SPOs) since they are also prone to false alarms. She thought it was a great idea, and they'll do it once they get the money

  • Hi. The main panel is a Simplex 4100. What I showed was indeed a remote panel. Remote panels and annunciators are very similiar, infact, they're almost the same thing. A remote panel is basically another panel interface at a different location. That still gives you control of all the system functions. On the other hand, an annunciator is like a mini-panel except it's features are limited to basic functions (acknowledge, silence, and reset) and perhaps a couple of selectable options.

  • Correction: the main panel is actually a Simplex 4120.

  • I know the 4100 and 4120 are now discontinued, but the Simplex 4100U still has that same evacuation message

  • We had that same sound and evacuation message in our high school...but the speaker and strobes were different.

  • It looked like on the panel that the system was acknoledged

  • It was. When I enter the lobby you can hear it buzzing (thus it being unacknowledged), but just before I reach the door, it stops (thus, being acknowledged). So, when I view the panel, you see it acknowledged and not silenced.

  • did they recently install a new fire alarm system in the building? I know there used to be bells that would ring at UAlbany.

  • FUnny, my boss called the system new as well, but no, this system has been installed since 2001. The bells you see in my vids are from the campus center addition, which was added in 1994. When they upgraded the Podium in 2001, the main part of the building got upgraded to voice evac (which is what you see here) and the extension remained untouched.

  • In your latest video, it's a code three alarm that we hear. Looks like the same system there.

  • That was a horn/strobe system. This is a voice evacuation system. It was installed at the same time though...

  • Cool. Were you shaky?

  • yes. I can't help it - it's nerves.

  • That happens to me too, but out of excitement cause I love MT's. Was that a Speaker/Strobe outside or was it an RSS?

  • Outside was a weatherproof RSS.

  • hay good video first time i have seen that.
