  • KILLER VERSION!

  • Holy crap! As if the the track on Physical wasn't stomp down magnificent enough...Jaysus Hoobastank Christ that plinkity plink organ juxtaposed w/ Pagey's ragin' an Plants howlin' vox. Freakin' outta the goddamn park man! Too fucking much, too fucking much...

  • BONZO'S drumming is spot on!

  • yeah bonham ...

  • Full blown gods of rock.

  • this version is much more sinister!! Whoa! Is JPJ using the "demon" key on this arrangement???

  • I found it on Limewire about 5 or 6 years ago, really, by accident, but it gets more and more awesome everytime I listen to it!!

message me if you want a copy on cd..we will discuss =)

  • cool name Goon!

  • This is way to "AWESOME", "THANK YOU" for sharing. I never knew of this, once again "THANK YOU" !!!!!

  • FUCKIN' Wicked AWESOME

  • the best part is 1:10

  • mr smokey sucks all balls. the album version is more refined, yes.

BUT! this version captures the zeppelin on a higher level of existence, true fuckin rockin gods at their best.

thank you so much for posting and i need to know where you got this!

  • this One is AMAZING, how come they never released it? even maybe on a later album??

  • this is eerie as fuck. i love it! its creepy and haunting, yet FUCKING AWESOME!!

  • That's just plain fun ... Thanks !

  • v I meant to say The drums in this one are better. v Where did you get this Goon?

  • The in the original are weaker, THIS IS AMAZING.

  • Better much?

  • the demo is darker than the one that appeared on physical graffiti

  • @Goon1399 I FRIGGIN LOVE THIS VERSION!!! CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO IT...THOSE PLUCKING GUITAR STRINGS ARE SO HAUNTING..GREAT POST GOON (lol Goon love that word btw).

  • I don't know why, but this amazing version reminds me to dracula...hahaha. Can't stop listening at it!!

  • @TheMsplin YES!! LOL

  • JEHOVAH'S WITNESSED

  • @Goon1399 AS a Zep fanatic I love all of there songs, and this version of in the light is absolutely amazing thank you for posting it.

  • @MrSmokeydog one correction, it's Jimmy not Jimi, two different people. They both in my opinion are the best guitarist to ever touch strings

  • @MrSmokeydog

The album version comes across much more omniscient as the narrator is telling you “in the light you will find the road”. This version is more personal from a narrative perspective as it’s a man speaking of love and loss, where he finds the strength to endure. With the album version “in the light” seems more a metaphor for Faith or God etc… it does a better job of delivering a song of hope. Would this song have been as timeless coming from an everyman’s perspective? Who cares!

  • this is great. but the final song is EPIC.

  • I cant say I enjoy the odder doors/beatlesy intro, but I definately dig the rawness of the rest of it! Never new this existed, awesome post! Sincere thanks.

  • this is the best version ever

  • i prefer this version over the one on the album

  • @djerwulfe fuck radio friendly!!! This demo is better then the one they released.

  • Led Zeppelin is the greatest band of all time in the whole history of the Earth.

  • No drummer ever had a swagger like Bonham's, the fucking greatest drummer ever!

  • I hear the drums from this in my sleep now .

  • Bonzo!!!

  • Bonham was such an amazing drummer! As someone said earlier, I wish LZ would put out a compilation of alternate takes and demos like the Beatles did with their "Anthology" discs.

  • I like this so much more than the version on Physical Graffiti.

  • This isn't just worlds above the album version, this is quite possibly the best song Led Zeppelin ever performed.

  • never heard this before, pretty amazing

  • epic

  • where can i download this?

  • Do you know what awesome feels like? Well, let's just say it feels like this song.

  • :O,what a band

  • bonzo raped this track in a good way

  • Yeh and imagine if they had actually produced this version. This is so raw. Id love to hear how mastermind Page would have produced it.

  • For some reason, when the guitar kicks in I'm reminded of Queen...

But yeah, this version is absolutely superb, though I wouldn't hazard to estimate a preference over the eventual release. I need to scour the internet for more Zep bootlegs...

  • where can i download this!?

  • If you listen closely, the drums and guitar are what ended up on the final version on the album. It seems very likely this was the basic tracks being laid down. They initially had a somewhat heavier feel and idea for the tune here, ie, reflected in the keyboard and vocal/lyric ideas, but scrapped them after these initial tracks were put down. My observation. I play drums and study Bonzo quite a bit so I recognize the drum part. Very interesting to hear what they were tinkering with initially.

  • sweeeeet

  • if anyone can find a better version of in the light i would like to hear it! it sounds eerie.

    awesome!

  • When I hear this rare gem I feel like I am back in the weird drug-soaked 70s having blurry, dreamlike visions of strange rituals at the Boleskine House while teenage kids listen for hidden messages on a black, vinyl disk spun counter-clockwise across the needle.

  • How trippy. I like it.

  • I'm glad I got to hear this version, and think it is great as well, but I still prefer the album version.

  • Sounds like something that would have been on Zoso. Just goes to show the ability Zep had, being able to play a song different ways. Wouldn't it be great If Zep could somehow scrounge together all these rarities that exist. I know there's Coda, but that just scratches the surface.

  • I prefer this version,

  • You just saved me from uploading this song.. man I love the original, but ever since i heard that opening, i can't get it out of my head. nice bootleg, i have many, but will not UpLoad duplicates. thanks again for posting!

  • I don`t believe Led Zeppelin is satanism, those people who believe they just try to break down the band, but Led Zeppelin decline. Led Zeppelin is excellent song writer and musician put it in your head.

  • At some point this track has got to be made available at large; it's just too good to sit in near-obscurity.

  • Er......it's on Physical Graffiti!!!

  • Er......not this version!!

  • Even Zeppelins demos are f'n awesome. Hammer of the gods indeed.

  • love this version

  • What such is this????????What?

  • never heard this version before, this eerie version would go PERFECTLY with one of those Clint Eastwood cowboy movies like For a Fistful of Dollars in the background :)

  • ipod my ass, i for laughter remember hatr old blind guitarist that jimmy page sat in with, he made something happen on bourbon st.

  • ...Did you just say "i" for "laughter"?

  • where can i get this version?

  • freakin sweet!

  • OMG!! Like he said, " i wished I had this on my Ipod".... very coooooooooollllll..............

  • yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • SMOKING MUSIC! Just like a garge tune!

  • I NEED THIS ON MY IPOD!

  • This is so eerie and awesome. I wish they put this version on the album.

  • WOW! is this version erie! lOVE IT!

  • It`s to bad they[Page/Jones] can recreate these great ideas, even today on their instruments, yet the lifespan for a giant`s voice like Plants is what? 15 years maybe.

They need a new 18 year old giant on vocals for their money tour, not Steven Tyler[he was good too]so sad.

  • If this is fake, I want to see this band. It's the real thing for sure. As soon as the chorus kicks in around 2:30 you know it's them. I can see why it's just a demo though, that organ reminds me of a cheesy 70's horror movie.

  • manos the hands of fate!

  • Thanks for posting this. Jonesy's organ part really changes the mood of the song. Really cool.

  • BONHAM

  • PAICE

  • bonham

  • As I was relieved it will be for you too honey. As you would for me. I will share your love. Let me share your love.

  • frikkin A! The greatest killers of all time!

  • i loveee so much the second chorus!!! everybody needs a light!!

  • NOT this version...that's why it called a DEMO

  • Hey Goon.......too many donks not enough roads

    Can you believe these dweebs?

  • Actually the majority of the tunes on Graffiti were written during the third album sessions.

  • Tried to find this on limewire...but was unsuccessful.

Anyone know how I can get this song?

  • You are currently LISTENING to your copy

  • The band needs to tour and dedicate this song to the world Though the winds of change may blow around you, but that will always be so When love is pain it can devour you, if you are never alone I would share your load. I would share your load Baby, let me, oh, let me In the light Everybody needs the light. In the light, in the light, in the light Light, light, light, in the light Light, light, light, in the light, ooh, yeah Light, light, light, in the light
  • wow i like it way way way way more than the original!! JPJ's tune in the bggning is incredible ... its creepy almosy sounds santanic.. now i understand how they sacred people in there time.. its so powerful

  • @slipdrum80 I think Jimmy's involvement with Alister and satanism must have been an influence on JPJ's intro. Sounds like the "demonic" chord/key to me.

  • This one wouldn't have gone great in the grafitti album. Too creepy, but a great find and a good song. The song sounded too zeppelin 1 with that organ

  • where could i download this???

    and, in my opinion,

this version is waaaaaayyy better than the original.

    its so creepy :]

  • yea kinda would be good as a horror or mystery flick soundtrack, wouldn't it?

  • just when i dont they can amaze me even more they bust out a tune like this Ass kicking awsome!!

  • the light, on my organ donor card, held the love to youze true aww

  • Absolutely THE best LZ song --- not too popular but fantastic. Sounds pretty authentic to me --- like the Lucy in the Skyesque melody... awesome find!!

  • lol at find. for all those who were looking to it looking to it, it;s jus fine lying there asa gurgling winking tolls

  • are you on crack? what are you saying?

  • Amazing...how do you get an amazing recording like this?

  • I found it on the web with a file sharing program..

  • The Boys should have gone with this one-creepy ass intro, I love it.

  • I like this version.

  • wow thought i heard it all awesome totally fuckin awesome

  • the organ does add an a very eerie effect, but i think its awesome, i cant remember which boot this is off... its one with heaps of really raw physical grafitti era recordings..

  • sounds like some old horror movie tune from a Hammer Film.
