@JetMechMA - The ground crew members turned their backs on the pilot and marched a safe distance away to the side of the taxiway then they turned around and marshaled out the aircraft just like they do at every airshow they perform at. You can't see any of this on the video because it was outside the view of the camera but you can see the pilot return the salute as he taxis out for his performance. These guys are awesome. God bless America and all the servicemembers who defend our great nation.

Hats off to the entire Viper West team for another outstanding airshow performance. Viper West is considered to be the best of all the military single ship demonstration teams and this video clearly shows why. The ground crew members are hand picked from their units to perform with the team and are the best of the best aircraft mechanics in the US Air Force. Their choreographed routine shows us all of the required steps to safely launch these awesome aircraft.

Awesome video!! It's rare to see a video that highlights the ground show and flight demo where you can hear the awesome scream of the F-16 motor. For anyone who doesn't know, the Viper West ground crew is performing a series of required checks to ensure the aircraft is safe for flight. They are in constant communication with the team commander and check hydraulic pressure, emergency power unit status, brake functionality, and they remove all of the ground safety pins prior to takeoff.

Unbelievable. I didn't see anyone marshall him out of the spot. They turned their backs on him and walked away. I just can't get over this video. This is NOT the US Air Force. Doing preflight AFTER engine start....so dangerous. And then turning their back on the pilot before he leaves. Just unbelievable. It's like this, "OK sir, I'll be disconnecting right now. Look for me off to your ... wing tip. Then you take your position, begin marshalling on HIS cue. Nice crisp salute and thumbs up.

Here guys....here's the sequence in case you for got it,

1) Kick the tires.

2) Light the fires.

That's it. preflight and THEN start engines. It's like a firecracker.....for safety, light on fire and GET AWAY ! For God sake, watch that Navy video of a guy getting sucked into the inlet of a less powerful engine. The Air Force is usually more level headed than that. I can't believe it. I guess recruiting is down and they have to endanger Airmen at air shows to attract new recruits.

Not too bad. Was hoping for a true full profile take-off. I wonder if Viper team east did any better? I saw a few safety violations also. I guess that when one is trying to look pretty safety does not matter. Glad I never worked on a viper team. Just give me a run of a mill fighter jet and I will take the battle to the enemy, and just think I don't have to look pretty doing it. @AV8R4HM dude the f16 is Not more maneuverable, its only beats the F18 in top speed and acceleration, THATS it I know first hand , literally, do you? Ive seen f14s eat f16s up years back, and the f14s demise was because the f18 out dogfought it every fucking time , even students could take instructors in f14s. The F18 can do loaded rolls like no other plane, the f16 would drop into a spin a majority of the time, try that shit at 1000 ft man. F18 as I would put it in Car talk has more FooT TRQ

@AV8R4HM and thats were the fight is won my friend. A F18 can launch a missile just as far as any f16, all the f16 has is a better distance characteristic. simple. Check the few comps f18s are match with f18s, 80% kill ratio for the f18. those are the facts. Even a F18a at a lousy 32000 lbs can do it, lettle lone what the CDs can do wih 36000.
