There's a difference between sounding "nasal" and singing into the mask... a lot of the resonance you aquire, should be through singing into the mask. You're supposed to sing towards the nose, not into / through the nose.
@ShellyGageMusic hey! i've actually sort of been wondering about this very issue. so how do you sing with nasal cavity resonance without singing through the nose? i thought that at least a little bit of air would have to come through the nose if the palate is relaxed, just like when we talk.
