I am happy for Fischer. He was the best in history of chess, and have the chance to be a world champion and became famous and inmortal.
Mozart, Van Gogh, Steinitz, don't have that chance. He died with 3 million dollars. Steinitz died poor. Fischer I always remember and I never forgot you. You was, are, will be my idol. R.I.P.
This represents what Fischer will deserve forever in the history of chess: RESPECT. Watch all this chess fans and players having the most quiet minute of silence that I´ve ever seen. I´ll never forget you Bobby, R.I.P.
Yes. I too agree with what you say. Those who are on the 'higher platform' coin such life to communicate / indicate their presence. Thanks to youtube and google, there is wealth of information. It is not unusual for someone with higher IQ like Bobby to find the going tough among other ordinary mortals. Remember what Einstein said 'Great souls have always encountered opposition from mediocre ones'.
This comment of mine was given as reply for what penxtwide had mentioned earlier. Somewhere i read Bobby's IQ was 186. Sir Issac Newton is supposed to have had an IQ level of 195.
It would be close to impossible to calculate the IQ of someone who never took an IQ test, so I'd take such an assertion with a grain of salt. However given Newton's achievements in the fields of mathematics and physics I think an IQ of 195 is believeable. Keep in mind that 195 is over 6 standard deviations from the norm and therefore individuals possessing such mental abilities would be extraordinarily rare.
He wasn't a crazy bastard. This world is fucked up and he knew too well about it. You think Kasparov is a legit grand master? He was a liar and cheated to gain his title with tons of pre-arranged games.
all you paranoid idiots bore me. Seriously - Fischer was crazy, insane. No two ways around it. Stop creating myths, stop building this stupid illusion. Enjoy his genius in algebraic notation.
indeed he did :) what I meant was that his genius is displayed in algebraic notation and thus can be enjoyed in that form. Or in any other form of chess-notation for that matter.
My point was nothing more than this: There is no need to create myths about Fischer. His chess is more than enough to make his name immortal.
this world is fucked up, word. That's true. It has always been fucked up and it will always be fucked up - creating a paranoid delusion about post-Fischer GMs will not change that.
You do realize that, in effect, it would take the consent of the entire chess-elite to maintain a world champion for 15 years if he was just a patzer? How exactly should this conspiracy be conducted? What would be Short and Anands motivation for deliberately losing to Kasparov in WC matches?
bobby, your chess games are like beethoven's music...they will never die

I know he was reviled in many quarters, but I think he was more of a pathetic figure. He was my early chess idol, and I was saddened by his end.

Thanks for this respectful video.
Isn't it strange that Bobby's span of earthly life covered years as many as a chessboard has squares? Namely 64!
It seems to me as if someone from a higher platform has coined this life and put his stamp on Bobby.

Fischer had no genius in algebraic notation. He used the older method of notation. ;)

A very sad day indeed.
