  • it has almost the sega genesis sound to it

  • @nicolaj0154 Sega used a Yamaha FM chip. :)

  • A crappy Casio meets the C64. SWEET!!! I'm getting one!

  • @senorverde09 Actually, this has nothing to do with Casio toy keyboards, as Yamaha hardly licensed their FM technology to anyone (however Casio's CZ keyboards in the 80s used a clever mathematical loophole to get around this). The chip used in this module was Yamaha's first attempt to stick its DX synth technology onto a single chip. Although neat, it wasn't user programmable and it had only two operators all sounds.

  • Great demonstration!

  • thats cool, wish i had that when i had my c64

  • Ahhh I had this when I was a kid.. the demo songs that came with it were great!

  • Not bad.. Check out Ubuntu Studio, get Jack and ZynAddSubFx.. It has FM, Additive and Subtractive.. And it doesn't require any special hardware..

  • Are those really SID synths? They are pretty good!

  • No its FM synthesis module for the C64.. It's a bit like playing midi through a C64 but on a deeper level.. Boy this must have come later after I gave up my C64..

  • Whoa I was here 4 months ago!! Wow..
