  • where you get the beats from?

  • Well, first i was thinking "poor sound quality, what a shame" then i was like "well, no harm done".

  • niggas trying to make music but failing hard

  • if u hook a condensor mic 2 a mixer then connect the mixer to the sp 606 mic jack with wat i use is a cord with rca white and red connectors and the other side is the big mic or headphone jack you get really really crisp recording im just wondering wat is in the 606 that does this

  • nice beat ! keep it up

what you work with doesnt make a difference people

it's what you can get out of it that counts

still mpc 60's and sp 1200 rule hehehe

  • its cool if you recognize it for its strength and weaknesses. Like someone else stated the effects are good but your limited to 4 tracks. so if you want to add many other sounds to your chops your very limited without exporting it all to your computer. so that wont bother some people but if you want to use hardware only Id go with the mpc1000

  • is the sequencer like the mpc's?

  • You just got Roland a sell sun

  • check my 2000xl vid and tell me whut u think!!

  • yooo! son u nasty. ima copp a 606, do i need a software? any otha equipment?holla bakk...it wudd really help, tha namesz Dru .

  • nice track ;]

  • no swing on the snares/kicks? i'm not nit picking b/c this is an ill beat no doubt...but a swing on the snares and kicks would be ill...

  • So whats should i get this or the SP 808?

  • dont waste your $ 808 is more for djs you only can make funky break beats on it with loops

  • thats slander, do a video search on the 808 people have made crazy dope beats with it, fucks wrong with you, anyway as far as this video goes, dope track kid

  • for the cost the sp-606 beats the samples out the pricey bitches.

  • the ill thing about her highness the sp-606 is that it comes wit the p-606 groovestation. The groovestation makes layin out beats a lot easier than followin the bpm's. not to mention you can sample any sound you can think of. ranging from movies, tv, and cd's. Bought one and neva looked back.

  • this might be a stupid question.. but can you change the volume of any indivual track?

  • I just got one of these! Is there a way to assign switching banks to the jog wheel or arrows, so I don't have to go through the menu?

  • Im looking at getting either one of these or a MPC, do they work like a music program on a computer? With tracks and then you can assign samples to tracks?

  • Im looking at getting either one of these or a MPC, do they work like a music program on a computer? With tracks and then you can assign samples to tracks?

  • yes they do jay quest!!!!!

  • I do know you, that's the whole point...

  • Lol, whatever you say dude. I know exactly who you are and you don't have a MPC.

  • "build like a toy" remember? It looks like one, but it's not build like one.

  • No, you own a keyboard / synth and some software. I have not heard any signature sounds of either a SP-606 or MPC2000 being used in your movies so far....

  • "the mpc" , which one? You probably don't even own one dude...

  • And yet another Akai fanboy who thinks the looks of a machine matter when making music. Stupid fool.

  • im not sure what the problem is, i think this shit is dope. i just got a 404 and kaosillator today. i would love to be able to do this.

  • can this thing work with fl studio?

  • I dont understand why people always say that the SP 606 is not as good as an MPC, because it can pretty much do the same things. You just gotta know how to work it.

  • It can indeed do the same thing... Akai fanboys just can't get over that fact and spread mis-info all the time... half of those guys don't even own Akai gear I'm sure.

  • fuck this go old school nd get the mc 808 lmao hahaha naw jk this tight too but i rather get a mpc or the mv 8800

  • If you're on a budget, the SP-606 is probably the best choice. If money isn't quite an issue, I would definitely go for the MV-8800 or an MPC2500. Still, even between those two machines, there's a lot of difference. I guess I'm somewhat of a Roland-guy nowadays, but they are both worthy of your money.

  • Hey man I've got a SP-606 since a few days now, but Windows won't recognize it as a MIDI device... so I can't use the P606 software or any MIDI software for recording my beats to.

Do you know how to solve this??? I love this machine already, but not being able to use the P606 software or Kinetic2 is pretty annoying!

  • If you still need help with this, hit me up on an email.. There is some issues about this.. I did post them on the sp-forums site

  • Thanks, but nah I've figured it out. Turns out Windows wanted me to install something that shouldn't be installed in order for it to work. Took quite some time to figure that out. Roland should make a comment about that on their site though, it's quite easy to fix if you know where to look and so on.

  • What was it?.. I never had a problem with this, but I did find a fix in the USB root directory.. What was yours?

  • Windows wanted me to install some sort of Multi-media audio controller driver after I had rebooted from installing the SP-606 drivers. If you go ahead and install thát driver, Windows won't recognize the device as MIDI device, but instead as an external soundcard (with a conflict). Lol, now I'm curious though :) , what was your problem and fix exactly?

  • the roland fantom has one built in.. but with a aaay better sequencer and color screen

  • I wouldn't expect less from the phantom for it's price though lol.

  • Cool Sound!

    Greatings from Spain!

    Live-Act! - Live-Music!

you can see my lives @ djlampy

  • yeah one of the best Sp-606 vids so far

  • The SP606 also has usb connectivity. Your samples saved to the disk are recognized as a separate drive on your PC. It's sequencer is not as good as the mpc1000 but its real gritty. If you're creative, the sky is the limit.

  • That was hot. I want to get into sampling and learn all of this stuff. I was thinking about getting one of these. Is it worth it? Im trying to stay within the SP 606 price range, but I keep hearing people talk about the Akai MPCs. Mind you, i dont have a laptop.(atleast not yet)...get at me.

  • can you do same things on this as a mpc?

  • Hell no. This thing only has 4 tracks per sequence. Even the mpc 500 has over 32 tracks. However the effects are awesome. You can do more sound tweaking with the sp 606. You can chop easy. Dont get me wrong It doesnt do as much as the mpc. But its a worthy piece of equipment for making industry beats.

  • you have to turn the velocity off, zylvesterdk

  • ILL

  • How does this compare to the akai mpc?

  • get the MPC1000...

  • For no reason other than just to have it or what? Really, the SP-606 is an excellent device too. No need for a fanboy to come screaming around man.

  • i bought the SP606. the sequencing is garbage. the SP-555 has the same crap sequencer. I can't stand Akai but at least i know there sequencing is good. Sure the SP606 lights up light a christmas tree when you chop up your sample but seriously.....

  • I don't believe you really own a SP606, because the sequencer is actually quite different than the SP-555. I own both. Having the screen, micro editing, step sequencing and so on really makes it a whole different thing. Loop capture on the SP-555 is nice, but basically the SP-606 is much more complete. Besides, Akai can eat their heart out at the MV-8800 when it comes to sequencing.

  • It's a different kind of machine. One is a sampler, the other a phrase sampler. Check out the various promotional movies of both devices and you'll see. When it comes to music though, both are excellent machines. Personally I prefer the SP-606 over the MPC1000 because it has better effects and it's less complex meaning faster work flow.

  • i can respect that. that was your preference and i shared mine...-2 though, wow, sensitive beatmakers out there.

  • if these pads are like the pads on the fantom.. i dont like them.. sometimes when u press only once da sound get play twice fast.. like a drum roll.. :( u know what i mean..

  • mpc does the same thing...although you can adjust it

  • ur tracks sick..do ur thing bro..

  • How did you get the samples in to your sp606. I like the drum sounds also. I have a 606 and a motif 7 and I don't how

  • To answer your question, you need RCA cables from your Motif7 output to the 606's input and then use sampling. Make sure 'input source' on the SP-606 is on (it's a pad). Hope this helps you out, but really if you buy these kind of machines in the future better look how to use them FIRST. It should be the first thing you want to know about the hardware BEFORE even buying them.

  • well u said ask for help and i need some help

  • ye kinda dope machine, there has 2 be a challenger for the mpc!

  • Hot!

  • man , whats the name of that sample

  • i liked it...can this do as much as an mpc? i'm not familiar with the roland line

  • Musically I'd say they can do just about the same things, but they do not have the same kind of effects build in and often a very different work flow actually. The Roland line samplers are more phrase samplers, like the SP-606. It's still good for a lot of different kinds of music, just like the MPC though, but it's mostly the preferred hardware for trance and techno music. I think the MPCs are a bit hyped for what they can do though feature-wise. Roland's gear packs heat too.

  • yo do you know what kind of memory card works with the sp-606? i cant find one it accepts.

  • Yeah, don't go for the Ultra III brands or special brands that have accelerated data reads. It's able to handle most formats and brands up to 512MB, but NONE of the special brands will work. Atm I use: 'Compact Flash 512MB Premium extreMEmory', but it's a bit of a no-name brand.

  • I need to get me a drum machine. I have a huge library of samples and nothing good to use them on :(

  • very nice brother could you tell me how you were able to use the chop function so very well and what level did you set it to?

  • yeah the lil variation u hook up 5:30 into the vid i think it is.. is dope man, nice... How is that roland? looks kinda dope, aint had a chance to proper check one out yet.

u can peep my beats at www.myspace.com/c0mplexphoneticistproductions

    Peace

  • teach me

  • talented ...... Hot shit
