Idk, they can definitely sing and have a lot of power, but i didn't feel any emotion. It seemed more like they were focusing on showing off their voice rather than the message.
Considering the pressure and the microphone that they had to share I thought they did great! At a graduation, I would have really enjoyed it. The professor could have got the title right, LOL!
This was sung at my graduation by our entire senior-choir.. All of us were crying our eyes out, so it sounded terrible! I sing 1st soprano, and sung all the high notes, and for once in my life, I couldn't hit the high part in the last chorus!
I heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason bringing something we must learn and we are led to those who help us in return if we let them and we help them in return well I don't know if I believe that's true cuz I know who I am today because I knew you like a commet far from orbit as it passes the sun like a skybird dropped a seed in a distant wood who can say if I been changed ( wait ) for good.... Ooo Ooo Ooo
The girls have lovlet instuments BUT Its to slow...Thats why the girls loose a little control and do not blend together. Pitch issues, and too much lazy vibrato. It needs to be tightened up.
Oh how I wish the group who performed at my graduation ceremony had performed something as poignant as this. Unfortunately they performed something so completely unrelated to a graduation and so insignificant to the milestone we were celebrating that I can't even remember what it was. Which sad and it makes me want to repeat high school just to have a graduation with a powerful song with heartfelt meaning that I will remember with great fondness and sorrow for many years.
@sugarsweet2010 I would think because they are graduating and they have been changed because they knew all those people in the audience. By putting the emphasis on the 'having known the other graduees (because I knew you)' they honour the other students more than Glinda and Elphaba who only honoured each other (which was very beautiful as well ofcourse ;-) )
-- i was in choir and for my senior year end of the year concert we sang with as a farewell for the seniors. i wanted to sing this for my graduation, but i couldn't perform twice. i got to sing the national anthem instead. =)
i love this song so much, and i think they did a great job of it. me and my best friend who i've known since 7th grade are singing this at our graduation, and i always start to cry whenever i sing it with her, because i know that i wont ever see alot of my classmates again, but i think it is such a perfect song for graduation. LONG LIVE WICKED!!!
This was great. This song reminds me of my friend and we have known each other since Elementary school but we did not become best friends until Jr. High. Just like the song saw " I have been changed for the better" I believe that knowing each other "we have changed for the better". They did a great job singing this song. I think that anyone that comes into our lives comes into our lives just at the time that they are meant to so in ways that we never knew we "change for the better".
p.s. Speaking of the score, am I the only one who noticed that the bridge, which oughta be poco più allegro, instead dropped suddenly to whatever is one notch slower than DIRGE, and went rallentando from there???
Are you just injecting a lot of technical comments in an effort to leave the readers of them awestruck with your bombastic pretentiousness? I am curious because you are using a lot of terms that are indicative of a critique that would be appropriate for an orchestra, but not so much for two novice vocalists. You did mention the "score," so I am guessing that you are interested in the music over the vocals. I know Stephen Oremus. Let me know if you want me to pass on your critiques.
Oh, and "ROFLMFOAO" doesn't work any better than your aforementioned comments. But if you want to stick to acronyms and capital letters, you have succeeded in portraying yourself as a big ASS with overly much time on his hands. I would say "assai compiacevole" to the ASS description; it gives my insult a musical flair you clearly enjoy. :)
I'd bet "the prof" was able to read the title on the first page of the score.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess further that they warned the 7 graduating theatre majors (who would otherwise have tittered like y'all) that they had chosen to introduce the song with a title that drove home the theme they wanted other majors to get.
Am I the only one who thinks the blond looks like the young Cloris Leachman, or am I the only one on here old enough to remember the young Cloris Leachman?LOL

Man, the piano is wayy to slow. The girl singing is kind of trying to speed it up, but the pianist is not getting the hint.
