When Hogan left the ring, fans didn't say, "Hey, Terry, can I have your autograph?" They called him Hulk Hogan. Most fans don't refer to actors by their character names when they meet them. With wrestlers, though, they ARE the character to most fans, even today, and are referred to as such. Fuck you.

The clip they show with the words Wrestlemaina under it is taken from Wrestlemaina V and the buildup to the Savage/Hogan match. Wrestlemania V was the first Wrestlemaina to be shown live in the UK.

I was born in 1983 so was 6 in november 1989 and remember my Sky owning friend introducing me to wrestling, I have been a fan ever since. Its interesting to see Hulk billed as the Incredible Hulk, Marvel famously sued over this and then the whole Hulk Marvel relationship came about because of that. Hulk even fought Marvel's Hulk in a comic once.

The plugging of No Holds Barred is interesting as well. At the time the WWF was aimed mainly at children yet they could not see the film(myself included) as it was rated 15 here in the UK(it was cut was well, the BBFC let anything go now but at the time were a pain). The film stinks but still Id buy it on DVD/Blu-ray for the novelty value.

From what I remember there was only one 15 rated wrestling tape between 1985 - 1993 and that was 'Summerslam 1988' (I'm guessing this was because of the heavily censored attack on Brutus Beefcake by 'Outlaw' Ron Bass). Hulk gives quite a candid interview here on TV-AM, coining the term 'sports entertainment' before Vince McMahon did about 6 years later.

In the UK media at the time(its not as bad now) there was this obsession with constantly reminding everyone that wrestling is fixed. The US wrestling secrets uncovered show(which was so out of date stunt granny etc) from 10 years ago shows that in the US this obsession is there too. They think they are telling us something we dont know. They dont understand we dont care that its fixed and enjoy it just like people enjoy X files,24 etc.
