  • almost as much as he loves cameras lol

  • ...like a swan doing the moonwalk.

  • (☞゚O°)☞ Yo put that bag back on!

  • To Thomas Pynchon and his desire to be a recluse, I quote Ralph Ellison from his book "Invisible Man" - "Even hibernations can be overdone, come to think of it. Perhaps that's my greatest social crime, I've overstayed my hibernation, since there's a possiblity that even an invisible man has a socially responsible role to play." And please don't respond with "Pynchon is visible through his words."

  • @Boudosaved Actually, I don't think Pynchon cares about what you or Ellison have to say... and I'm not even a fan of his.

  • @FractalBolt You state the obvious, but that in and of itself doesn't stop me from expressing my opinion.

  • @Boudosaved Pynchon is visible through his lack of visibility. The cult around his invisibility has become his public image, as much on display as any other public image, yes?

  • Hilarious! Thanks Lil'

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • The man hasn't been autographed in over 50 years, yet he voiced himself on the Simpsons.

    THAT is cultural significance!

  • @PAMuffinMan your words make no sense.

  • oh-hoho its funny cause he say he loves cameras, but he hates them in real life.

  • @Roodski Man, I can't believe you figured that out! Way to Go Champ!

  • @godsaway0 oh-hoho its funny cause its not that hard to figure out. now you funny too!

  • This is the first association I will always have in mind whenever someone says "Pynchon"

  • someone please tell me why he has a bag over his head

  • @787ivan He's so reclusive that very few photographs of him exist so that joke here is that nobody knows what he looks like.

  • @KennethKaniffFromCT ive seen him before he has bunny teeth

  • a bit like jimmy breslin

  • It's good to know Thomas has a sense of humour.

  • @turokcalde

have you read any of his books?

  • Haha, pure genius. I like how not many people will get this joke, but the ones who do find it hilarious. Well, I certainly did.

  • A testament to the absolute fucking awesomeness of The Simpsons, as well as the absolute fucking awesomeness of Pynch.

  • @ruggeroization My God, you're right!

  • @ruggeroization A "stupid bad"? Well at least we know you're no literary genius yourself.

  • @SpectreOfDigital SHut up.

  • I love the fact that a family prime time comedy series has a reference to someone as obscure as Thomas Pynchon.

  • @mickyj300x Thomas Pynchon is obscure?

  • I think it's amusing that reporters deem any notable person who doesn't want to talk to them " a recluse". Someone can live a full life, go to places, meet people and have many friends, without wishing to spend his time talking to the media.

  • @nickslick75 I know. And then they paint the "recluses" as oddballs or eccentrics when they could be totally normal living totally normal lives away from the media. Pynchon himself said it best when he said recluse is just a word made up by the media when someone doesn't want to talk to them.

  • I love that Thomas Pynchon actually sounds like that. :D

  • Thomas Pynchon actually voiced that

  • Well I'll be. Good on ya T.P., and your sense of humor.
