This space has a reason.

In 1941, metal recovery law was promulgated, people were forcibly contributed scarce iron, for use in war.

In 1944, this Arashiyama Line was from doubｌe track to single track, and iron of rails were contributed.

Since then, the Arashiyama line remains single track.
