There is another wa, but it only works if the cover on the edge of te hnge is the only thing broken. I just did this today and it was simple. All I did was use a small amount of super glue while holding the hinge cover in place with a lot of pressure. My DS screen locks again.

Your Title is misleading. Based on your info, it should read "How to REPLACE a Nintendo DS Lite NDSL Hinge". I think most viewers are looking for a less tech way of fixing it...if possible. Half way through ur video, I thought of 2 quick fixes. (1) Apply a spay adhesive or (2)inserting fibers of tack cloth or similar between the sleeves and hinges to restrict movement...thus eliminating most of the breakdown. Grat advice though. If quick fix doesn't work, I'll try yours. Thanks.

@supercatters Yes. I know this response is very late, but my original DS had a damaged ribbon cable, I fixed the problem for around $15 in parts.

@StevenJosephHorton I just had to buy a whole new screen with the speakers because I didn't have a soldering iron, it cost me about £12 on eBay, the problem was that the screen they sent was slightly too big so it is shoved in and the speakers were balls, they make a static noise even on a low setting. I have this problem where if the screen tilts at all the top screen goes grey and fuzzy coloured. After a bad buying experience on eBay I have also been banned from ordering stuff by parents :(

Hello! I'm bewildered! My brother has a DS lite that I changed the housing on, and after i did, his touch screen didn't work! I thought i broke the p6 so i replaced it, then i found out it was the digitizer, so i replaced that. and now his touch screen works again but now his bottom screen is all fuzzy and blurry, you can still tell whats on the screen enough to play, but compared to mine it sucks! seems to be a long way to replace a simple hinge not a great video this does not need to be done the hinge can be replaced without completely stripping the device down. Very Poor video.

Do you mean when you turn it on and it asks for the date/time setup repeatedly. If so, your battery needs replacing as it isnt holding a charge. If you're talking about games, most don't have a save place. You have to finish levels before it saves.

Okay people, at 3:30, what he glossed over was the ZIF connector for the upper screen's ribbon cable.

It is a two piece connector. The white/cream body, and the black latch. The latch simply flips up with very little effort. I damaged my connector because I didn't realize this and had to re-solder the connector to the board because I kept prying at the wrong side. OP is not kidding when he says everything should go together or come apart with minimal firm pressure (even the hinge).

I watched this video and realized that I'm not doing any of that since I may end up destroying my system, which I absolutely love. The hinge by the R shoulder button is cracked and I've read that it doesn't affect the intergrity. We shall see about that. If it breaks, I will be sad, but Nintendo will be fixing it, if it comes to that.

Ive had my ds for 3 years the hinge is broken the ear phone jack is messed up (it wont send sound to the ear phones) the L and R buttons wont work Game play is fine unless you need to use the R orL button but man am i surprised it chages right

The one on my first DS broke, so I bought another and like 2 months after I bought it, hinge broke again. And all I did was open the damn thing. It pisses me off that they don't repair it for free when you're still within warranty.

If your buying one to fix yourself NEVER buy one that someone as tried to fix with glue...............they glue the mainboard onto the bottom of the shell almost impossible to remove without breaking
