If Jodie was gone from Jeff's life, that would make Jeff cry..if Jeff was gone from Jeff's life, that would make Jodie cry. The whole private conversation and being alone with Jeff on the roof Im surprised didnt make Jeff cry.....when Jeff said without the magic hat he would not be around to play with Sam andMuffy and to be without Jodie--that could evoke true tears.
During this episode, since cell phones weren't made back then, I wonder if there was more than one phone in the Children's Department. If there was, maybe one of them could have picked up one phone and dialed the number for the Children's Department, and maybe lied and said that it was Waldo The Magnificent lying that Jeff will never be able to be friends with Jodie, Sam, and Muffy because a dangerous magic spell happened on him. It would be rude but, it would make Jeff cry which he wants.
You know? I realize from watching this and 'Phil's Visit' that, while I enjoyed this show as a kid like so many (caught it on PBS) that even with the talking puppets and things this show took it's relatively simple subjects and presented them in a way that was rather philosophical. For example I really enjoyed that parable Jody told to induce Jeff to cry. I am 31 years old. And in all honesty, that bird story moved me to tears. And I don't cry easily.

Jodie says "It must get awfulyly lonely having to stay in the department store all the time"
I wonder if Jodie was ever alone before she met Jeff.....she seems to know how he feels. What a precious friend to love...

Sam's sad donut monolog is hilarious. "No more sticky fingers! No more crumbs in my mustache!"
I do like the sad story sequence.
