  • Amazing!

  • why does this remind me of centro prime?

  • awesome. it doesn't matter how you make it, as long as it finished it's great!

  • nice sculpting

  • You're pretty good. Do you have a job in Graphic design? If not, the gaming industry is missing out. :(

  • this is fuckin sick cant wait till i get rele good n can make shit of that stature

  • ZBrush is now a thing of the PAST.Awesome demonstration.

  • how many videos have you posted that comment on?

  • How the heck is Zbrush a thing of the past?

  • @tyrone70

    Blender is free

  • yes, but people are still purchasing Zbrush and Mudbox. Why? Because they are better sculpting tools than Blender will ever be. Even is Blender does upgrade, Zbrush will still be many steps ahead. I'm not trying to insult Blender's creators. But to say that Zbrush is a thing of the past is an extreme exaggeration.

  • @tyrone70 If you weren't trying to insult blenders creators, you wouldn't have felt the need to point out that you were not trying to. Keep it real. Saying Zbrush is a thing of the past may be an exaggeration, claiming what you have is one alsol. Think about the cost of training 1000's of employess in another software. The fact that blender has no support other than the community is another. This is just 2 reasons in 2 sec of thought. Please don't spread your personal fud as truth.

  • @HouseArrest420 Seriously, what you said doesn't make much sense to me. I don't know any company with thousands of employees that are using Blender in their pipeline. And I'm not hating on Blender or it's creators, like I said before. Blender definitely has an advantage on things like modelling and rigging, but it's sculpting won't come close to Zbrush. I'm stating this simply based on theory. If you or anyone think that what I said is a fact, that's not my fault :/

  • @tyrone70 Seriously, reread. Understand. Nowhere did I say any company had 1000's of employees trained in blender. I actually only pointed out the large cost of training all those employees in a new software (blender). It's obvious I didn't believe your fud for absolute truth, so there's no reason to include me in your hypothesis, however there are plenty that know no better but to listen to fud and believe it to be truth. Keep it real ;)

  • @HouseArrest420 Again. It's my opinion. Take it or leave it.

  • @tyrone70 I know it's your opinion. Funny thing about opinion's is that unless you state that it's opinion, lots of people that don't know it's opinion tend to regard it as fact. Thats why I pointed out that it was fud for all those that couldn't sift through it to make that judgement on their own. Take it personal if you want, that'd be your fault. Maybe you don't like the word fud? I'd suggest looking it up before you type up another redundant post telling me what I told everyone in my first.

  • @tyrone70 I'll make it easy. Straight from the wiki

FUD - a tactic of rhetoric and fallacy used in sales, marketing, public relations,[1][2] politics and propaganda. An individual firm for example, might use FUD to invite unfavorable opinions and speculation about a competitor's product.

Anyone's opinion, your's included, will always be FUD. Get over it.

  • why wuld it be cheating

  • lol

  • lol. that is just past :D Why would i end up spendin hours for modeling characters for game and get a sucky result if i have blender :D just sayin. But writing codes is still 1# for programming. And it probabbly will stay like that

  • i find sculpting the best tool in blender, it is very fast and easy to use

  • Can't cheat in art

  • balatak how is sculpting cheating ?

  • I can't tell if most of you here are idiots or are just taking the piss: Sculpting IS modeling. While I doubt 30 mins, I just watched a guy do a photoreal head in Zbrush in 90 minutes.

  • yeah right and the concept art is cheating too ....

  • and how??

  • wire it?

LOL..ya u wire it then transwire it before subwiring the whole thing to a 4D mash....what an idiot fest.

  • the ? now is how can this be used in animation? Do you have to wire it?

  • wire it? Its a mesh, just like a cube. You can 'rig' it using armatures and then animate the armatures.

  • Sculpting is a "Tool" which every good 3D program has it ... it is essential ...

for ex: you create high poly meshes around 1-2 mil polys for baking normal maps / ambient occlusion etc. for Low poly mesh . now pls tell me how much time do you need to tweak those vertices ? proly some good years and change few pairs of glasses =/

  • kinda looks like alien from the movie alien :P

  • In the 3d modeling world is sculpting considered cheating. When i first discovered it I went from making simple gometric shapes to making some really cool, good looking stuff. I just think that its too easy and that I should be using other methods to get that great looking warrior (or whatever).

  • By doing what? Moving individual vertices x units in x direction?

  • thats what i'm questioning. i just thought that professional model making was more laborious than this.

  • Are you joking? Sculpting isnt cheating...nothing is cheating as long as you make something good. Sculpting is the evolution of 3D modeling technology. As the technology improves, new tools will make sculpting easier and easier, which will lead people to make even more fantastic models for games and movies.

By the way, this is in no way easy. This was probably made by an expert with years of experience, and as you can see it is sped up,

  • For a game, sculpting alone is not enough since the models contain way to many polygons to be efficient for real time rendering. However you can use sculpting to create a high detail version of the game model and then bake (save) this additional detail into a bumpmap or similar, that can be rendered "quickly" although not totally accurate. (simplyfied explanation)

  • So yes! you're feeling that this is too good to be true is somewhat legitimate! Those giving you thumbdown totally misinterpreted what you where trying to say. Knowing a mix of traditional modeling and sculpting gives you the best result for realtime models. But for art purposes, sculpting alone will do the job :) And it isn't as easy as it looks.

  • "too easy"? Modeling and creating scenes is all about results. You want to create a certain effect, a certain look- whatever. It doesn't matter HOW you do it.

  • In CG cheating is nothing but a good thing.

If something reduces the time it takes to produce an image or animation by simplifying workflow or cutting rendertime, that's awesome.

If you're not cheating, you're not doing it right.

  • what tools name?

  • im stunned and at a loss for words good job! and imagen it only took 30 minutes and it was just practice i can only imagen your serious models.

  • what is the name of music?

  • Muy bueno. Yo también trabajo en blender.

  • Do you have to go to school to do that? i mean, there are 2 many options that i get lost in all those confusing menus, is there a book that teaches you 3d sculpting?

  • There is a book that teaches you all about Blender, it´s called The Blender Essential.

    Hope that helps!! :)

  • there are plenty of books. but only if your willing to spend the coin. i suggest just searching for blender sculpting tutorials. ive got a bare basics one. but there are plenty of great video tutorials on youtube

  • Cool, that is awesome. For some reason, my Blender's Sculpt mode will not work. Any advice?

  • to make it wok good you have to move your mouse really slow, in this of course you can see he sped up the video so really he is moving slow with the sculpt

  • add multires... or get a faster computer.

  • well it's good whit skulpt tool but what 30 mins!!!!!!!!

  • Holy Shit! Absolutely fucking incredible! Great job man i would love to see this all coloured and rendered that would be sick!

  • How did you get both sides to change by editing one side?

  • On the bottom of the pop up window, when you hit 'n'. there's a reflect type option. Just hit x on that.

  • my brother in law told me about blender and iv just fone strat to set smoth

  • D: i can't do the sculping could some one help me out?, good vid and sculping by the way

  • No way. I always knew Blender had sculping, but I didn't know you can do this with it!

  • 1 word: OMFG!!!HOWD*U*DO*THAT?!!!Z%!&@!

  • HOLY CRAP LOL how can you do this stuff?

ever though of making a game cause this is a very detailed head :p 5/5

  • hey dude you you should do a video tutorial to make explaining all that please, and make the community crow

  • That is sweeeet. But how do map it once it's done?

  • what kind of processor do you have to have if you want to make a lot of subsurf divisions.

  • What was the final polycount of this? D:

  • Ok, you are the BEST!

How did you show/hide part of the mesh at times? did you have them as seperate meshes on seperate layers?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm so glad i asked... this is a noobish question but... how do i show things later on?

  • Alt-H is unhide. ;)

  • HOLY SHIT! thats crazy!

  • your very good at this

  • a dumb question but how do u sculpt with out using edit mode?

  • Use sculpt mode for that. You can find it in the list of modes including object and edit mode. (Sculpt mode is only available for meshes).

  • Wow..... nice sculpt I never thought that a free ware program could produce such a high detailed model. But I was wondering what was you level of sub-division

  • i think the artist changed it as it got more detailed, my guess would be 1-2 to start of and 3 at the end and the subsurf would be dependent

  • sorry it looks like 5 for subsurf, infact i dont think the artist made any subdivision at all i thinks is just subsurf

  • IMPRESSIVE... blenders got a ton of options for an open source program gives artists a variety of options

  • That is so cool great work! I kind of done one of those myself check it and see if its good.

  • hey that was cool maybe u could make a video on how to make a human face and how long did this take u?

  • could u do things like masking and alpha channels to create bumps???

  • Nice, i never realised how great blender was until today , this is by far the most impressive video tut as it bairs remarcable resembelance to zbrush. Ceep doin what you do.
