  • Omg! 0:53 nyan cat's voice in the background

  • Wow man, just seeing this again brings back some sweet memories of anime on tv. I remember seeing this along with some other animes on the then CBN channel.

  • Wow, this theme is an embarrassment

  • Oh my thank you! I've been looking for this I use to watch it all the time I only had like one episode on an old vhs. Something I never understood was this opening where he's a cub but then in the show he was always a full grown lion :/

  • Yeah I remember watching this on CBN in the mornings.

  • i used to love this theme song for some reason. I never remembered it being longer than the whole damn show.

  • this was my favorite show when i was lil haha now i cant stop singing the theme song hahah X)

  • como llegue a este enlase viendo este opening?

  • 1. Why is he called Kimba in the first series but not in this one?

    2. A cub beating a fully grown lion-physically impossible

    3. I still wanna see it

  • @AMY1213141 Leo is actually Kimba's original japanese name.. why they decided to change it back for this 2nd series, i'm not sure.

  • @AMY1213141 "A cub beating a fully grown lion-physically impossible" Not really. A little known fact is that Leo is actually the grandcub of a an extremely rare stripeless white tiger named Bhita. Taught the secrets of the Shaolin tiger fist Leo, is a fifth level adept and is extremely good at empty hand......er I mean empty paw fighting

  • @gaiusscipio Fair enough but if Kimba was a real lion, he wouldn't be able to defeat a fully grown lion in any case

  • 1. Why isn't he called Kimba?

    2. A cub beating a full grown lion-physically impossible

    3. I still wanna see it

  • I just nostalgia'd so hard.

  • omg i rember watching this during the 80's when abc family was cbn

  • this show is awsome and this song is so cute.

  • i used to when i was about 5 or 6

  • I havn't seen this is SO long...

  • looks more like a mouse than a lion, but still a good cartoon.

  • i watched this shit in sunday school back in the day!

  • EPIC!!!!!!

  • :D i got the box set

    i like this show opening

  • OMIGOD! i missed this show!!! i remember leo, but i couldnt find the damn show for the life of me. i hope you keep this on youtube for the rest of time :D

  • haven't seen this in a GAZZILION years!!!

  • Seems between this and The Silver Brumby, I've missed a bunch of neat shows. Thank you, Youtube.

  • @Uilus Actually you should thank the person who took the time to upload all of these episodes; WhiteLionness. Youtube didn't do anything other than providing a place to upload them to.

  • @SelphieTillmitt

Actually, it was more or less directed at everyone who's uploaded something nice. XD But yes, I should have thanked WhiteLioness especially for this one.

  • This show and Honey honey, Came on sundays at 3pm(strange time) around my way, 20 years ago

It was on for about 3 months and I never saw them again till now

  • This is absolutely amazing! I haven't heard word of this show for 16 years, when all of a sudden one night I had a completely random flashback of me watching this show when I was only five years old. I don't know what triggered it, but I was really startled as to how I even remembered. After that, the first thing I did was look this up on youtube, and sure enough, it was there. As soon as I watched the video, everything started coming back to me, you don't know how truly grateful I am to you!

  • throw back son

  • Wow this intro is longer than the others.

  • Disney in notorious for, (AHEM) "borrowing" ideas.

Example: The famous "Disney" castle from Sleeping Beauty is based on a castle in Bavaria, Germany.

  • Fucking Walt Disney, they have stolen Osamu Tezuka's scenario to make the Lion King(1994). I'm Vietnamese and it's my opinion because I've been reading his manga that about Leo(1970s) and I'm wanna know how u guys Japanese think

  • @tuonghaiviet lol Osamu tezuka has "Borrowed" his whole art style for astro boy, its a total rip off of bettyboop from the Max Fleischer studio.

The large so called "anime" eyes he didn't event * the line eyelashes, the thick arms and legs and the little circle noses* EVERY artists has stolen from another... i dont agree with it but it happens osamu stole and then someone stole from him. what goes around comes around.

  • @JxDxSxM lol Lion King is a true story? What the hell are you talking about? Do you even know what "true story" means when it pertains to a movie? Don't start bitching about something that you clearly don't know shit about. Good day. :)

  • omg I remember watching this when I was younger!! I loved it so much... haha, I was maybe 6 when I got my first VHS.. we got it around 1999 or something X3

  • '80s synths!

    Great Leo!

    GREAT TEZUKA!!!

  • This is very catchy.

  • Anyone know where i can find the season one intro? (leo, where are you... Leo, save the day...)

  • watch?v=dcFrkm91y-c

  • the one that goes "leo, where are you, level, save the day" isn't the season one intro, it's the ending theme for season 2

  • oh GOD bless you! My sister and I used to watch this on tv! I havent heard this in ooh 20 something years! thank you for making me smile!

  • No prob, glad to have helped. :)

  • .... Damn. I haven't seen this thing for years. The only episode I remember is one that had this one other girl lion in love with Leo, and this nasty evil lion that was somehow related to her ....

Does anyone know the episode's name?

  • yes, it's episode 2, The Map of Danger. i have the episode on my channel.

  • Thank ya! That episode reeeeally brought back some locked up memories.

  • I remember seeing this on CBN before it became ABC Family. Eventually, I learned it was a sequel to "Kimba The White Lion." This opening was sort of a tip off. Notice the similarities.

  • Yeah. Did Tib and Tab ever even show up in this series?

  • No, but there were hyenas like Agurra The Terrible. And trust me, they were nasty as heck.

  • I love this show!!

  • L-E-O-L-I-O-N!

  • Comment removed

  • it's cuz hyenas are slobbering, mangy stupid poachers

  • Comment removed

  • oh chill out, i was only joking (and reciting a line from a certain movie, in case you hadn't noticed), I don't mind hyenas, and I enjoy seeing them at the zoo and learning about them.

  • I remember buying the videos when I was a kid and learning this song. Its great to see videos like this on youtube. Such precious memories.

  • I don't believe I've seen this since about 1987!

I was on a nostalgia kick and went looking for it. Many thanks for posting this!

  • I personally liked this opening theme the most. It's cute! ^_^

  • i guess this is the song.. dunno why in my head all these years i was singing something different lol

  • lol.. well, um, let me think. are you thinking of the original Kimba the white lion series? the series about a young lion cub who's king. because the opening is different from this series. or did you watch leo the lion in a different language? because the openings differ by language and country.

  • haha, no this is definitely the right one. i remember some little lion growing into some big white lion. the only part i remembered from the song is the part on 1:16 where she keeps saying "leo the lion" guess i didn't remember the song sounding so nice and friendly lol.

well thank you for investigating the matter for me!

  • i'm sorry but wtf is this, this isn't what i remember the song to be for the cartoon leo the lion?

  • haha dunno what to tell you, this is the official opening, not some dumb fan made video.

  • I used to have my folks rent the episodes of this show from Blockbuster. Wow, I can't believe I found it!

  • This was before the network started showing crappy shows. No wonder why the old shows have more epic win than the new ones, they're actually worth seeing! 5/5

  • i love this cartoon when i was about 5 years old i use to watch this one i still remember leo

  • yes i found it! ive been singing this song for the past few years and i couldn't find it :( so now i didxD

  • ye gads, this song always did make me cringe..I like the animation, but the dubs terrible. (Leo & Raiya's voice is okay though.)

  • Yeah I know, the only voices I don't mind are Leo's and Raiya's, too.

  • Its Kimba not Leo but acourse us Americans had to change it to Leo!

  • Actually no, it was Leo all along since the very beginning in japan, the original Japanese title was and always has been "Jyangaru Taitei Leo" (Jungle Emperor Leo), but the rest of the world dubbed him Kimba but then in this english-dubbed series they changed it back to Leo and in the 1997 movie Jungle Emperor Leo they call him Leo too.

  • Nice XD hi again

  • This bring me back, and its cute thx

  • Its been such a long time lol thx and its cute XD

  • I have been thinking about this show for a while, this and "candy candy" are what got me into anime way back in the 80's

  • Correction suzyflash, not "candy candy", "honey honey" was the series back to back with Leo The Lion,on the CBN cable station (now known as ABC Family).

  • Oh my gosh! I have these videos right here with me! It sucks cuz pretty soon there arnt gonna be any vcr's around like how they got rid of old gameboys! :] thanks! Before i was obbsessed with Lion King I loved Leo The Lion! :]

  • it's been released on dvd now

  • wow! great! Thanks fo telling me! :]]] I had the theme song stuck in my head all night, last night! O_0

  • I remember watching this as a little kid; I had every tape of them. I thought the graphics looked different though. Ah well. Nostalgia.

  • there are a couple different kimba/leo series, maybe the one that you thought had different looking graphics was a different series. about what year did you watch the show in?

  • I have to admit, the lyrics are terrible.

and I remember when I was a kid I thought the lyrics were still bad... holy crap.

But it's so bad it's good in a way. I know this comment will get those thumbsdown things... agh.

  • lol, don't worry, i wont contribute to any comment ratings, as my way of agreeing with you on this one.

  • LEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

lol thats like the best part

  • i love this sooo much !!!!!!

  • L-E-O L-I-O-N LeeeEEEEeOOOOO! and lea his wife there's tammy the friendly gazelle

and coco the parrot he's out of control

LEEEEEEO, the lion(the lion) LEEEEOO the lion(the lion) so come on and join us'let's have fun

don't dis-ap-point us! it's leo! it's leo_the lion and leo has his own animal kingdom!

  • OMG!! I used to watch this when I was a kid!!! :D

  • LEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Yeah there's a dude named Craig (he has a shop at whitelionrestorations(dot)c0m) who has all the episodes restored (both sound and picture quality) and uncut, but kinda charges a lot..

  • Ah I dunno, with the exception of Leo and Raiya, i'm really not a fan of any of the other voices. It's not so much an issue of quality, to me.. even if the quality was perfect and restored, i'd still dislike a lot of the voice acting, I feel they didn't even try very hard to fit some of the animal voices.

  • Yeah the quality would be better probably and hopefully it would be uncut, since there's like a total of 3 hours cut out of the Palm Beach Entertainment episodes that were released.

  • omg i have some of these eps. on VHS

  • why did U.S have to change it? It's so confusing!!!!!

  • I thought his name was Kimba.

  • it is. but they changed it to leo as an adult. well, his name was always leo in japan, even as a cub. but in the US and most other countries he was known as Kimba as a cub.

  • I remember this cartoon from a long time ago! Wow, The Lionking really was a rippoff of this show.

  • Yeah no kidding! Oh well. Thanks for viewing. :)

  • I met the voice actress for Kimba and Astro Boy,the late BILLIE LOU WATT,back in 1994 and 1995,and she made that same testimony, as well, in regards to the Lion King.

  • where can i watch these episodes online in english dub at

  • Give me some words of motivation and I will! I want to, all I need to do is stop being lazy

  • 'You can do it!' how's that for motivation?

  • fair enough, lol. i'll try to soon, as I quit my job and am done with school for the semester.

  • Ok, so you lost your job, man that's a bummer, but there is a + side and thats that you are out of school!

  • lol what makes u think i lost my job? that's not what i said in my earlier comment.. i quit, i couldn't stand my new boss.. he was a jerk.

  • Oops sorry about that, I was tired when I wrote that.

  • that's okay, maybe i should've let them fire me instead cuz then i could get unemployment lol

  • xd, you have a good since of humor.

  • lol thanks, i appreciate u saying that, cuz i like making people laugh

  • Really? Eye do 2!

  • Hey I remember watching this when I was a kid- but it wasn't an anime show? It was the real movie, in english. I was just wondering if any one might know what it is called?

I can't find it anywhere- and instead of Kimba being called Leo, he was called Kimba..

    Hopefully someone will read this.

  • You mean like a real life movie, with real lions?

  • No, cartoon.

  • well there was Jungle Emperor Leo..thats all i kno i watched it yesterday

  • Hmm.. Okay, thanks. ^^

  • The second season/series of Osamu Tezuka's "JUNGLE EMPEROR" (1966-'67) focused on the adult "Leo" {aka "Kimba"}, which NBC Enterprises {who brought the first season of 52 episodes to the U.S. as "KIMBA THE WHITE LION"} wasn't interested in syndicating at the time. In the mid-'80s, an independent production company got the rights to translate these episodes; they used an updated theme and music score, with new voices...

  • I've got these on video! It's been soooo long... Thank you SO much for bringing back the memories!<3

  • you're welcome :)

  • Ahh the memories.

  • you're thinking of a different, more generic, american cartoon. this is season 2 of kimba as an adult.. renamed leo. it was made in 1966.

just out of curiosity though, you said "get it right folks!" who, or what are you hinting at? WhiteLionness didn't make this video, it's the official english opening.

  • Who was Leo's wife?

  • It varies depending on the series.. as a cub in 1966 it was Kitty, then as an adult in this series it was Leah, and then in the 1989 remake her name was Raiya, and in the 1997 Jungle emperor leo movie it was Lyre.

BUT in japan, all along it was Laiya/Raiya.

  • yeah i remember this show...

i just recently bought some of these shows on dvd..

  • Memories... I used to watch this and many of Tezukas work when I was a lad

  • I remember this show... I liked it sooo much... Kimba all grown up... I just might cry watching this as it brings back a time of both joy and sorrow... Love it and hate it youth is amazing...

  • I'm sorry to hear about the sorrow you've gone through

  • Thanks... Not normaly that emotional but it was getting late... lol Being older now I am very happy and the suffering I went through as a child has made me stronger, wiser and I think a better parent... My kids are happy, well mannored I love them very much. It has also giving me the dessier to help children, so I will be applying to do foster care in the spring... Take care...

  • That's good :) You too!

  • woho i luv this fucking song!!!

  • OMG, I'm feeling so nostalgic. Actually, I was first introduced to leo the lion as a kid growing up in the 80s. But not the English version, the Arabic version, since I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia...here's the arabic version: watch?v=B_5eZX1fMcM

  • Hey that's really cool, thanks for sharing!!

  • man, that took me back!

  • that was an obscure one

  • the syncs off

  • Barely. your point is?

  • hardcore synthesizer heh. the "waaaaah-wah-wah" part sounds redonk tho...

  • no, the redubbed 1993 isn't called the New Adventures of Kimba, it's 100% identical to the 1966 episodes, only with new voices, but it's just called Kimba the White Lion. The New Adventures of Kimba is a completely new series, the animation was remade in 1989 and looks 5x better. to see some of the episodes, visit "kurtderfer4" profile, he's got tons of 1989 episodes.

  • Do a youtube search and type in "kimba UK opening", i'm pretty sure (but not positive) that that's the redubbed opening, i bought 2 kimba DVDs from walmart that were from the redubbed 1993 episodes and that opening was on it

  • this is kimba season 2 that tezuka did on his own. it was made in japan in 1966 and wasn't released in the US til the 80's cuz unlike the NBC-dictated first season, they thought it was too violent. the badly redubbed original kimba opening IS shitty, but it's not this one

  • that song was quite catchy, what a diffrence in "mood" between this series and the 80s

  • This is the official english opening, u didn't know that?

  • frack? that's a new one
