Also I will echo what the other guy said about the c1000s. I own one and it's great for acoustic guitar and will really bring it out to it's full tone in the mix. A large diaphragm condenser would do well also, perhaps better. A Rode NT2A is a nice mic and versatile, sounds great on acoustic as well.

Vocals sound good through this mic. For guitar you should consider a small condenser mic an AKG C1000s would probably be a good one for you. Mic in on the 12 fret and if you want a bit more bass, a little bit more to the soundhole of you guitar.
Don't listen to the comments of the drinking and the smoking, that's just bs.
@TravisMoore Another thing. You might want to try out some preamps, you say your tascam has preamps, ofcourse that is true, but there are special preamps for mics. A Goldmic or an ART for example (you have ART preamps that you can get from Ebay for only 20 bucks,) others are Joe Meek , Focusrite (very good but a bit more expensive) or if you are handy you can try and build one. if you want to invest in sound in your studio, than that plus he condenser I was talking about would be the next step
@TravisMoore Doing the right vocal exercises and warm ups helps... But for the love of God... don't take up either smoking or drinking to "make" your voice...
@mrweems Don't perpetuate that myth. Nothing kills a voice like drinking alcohol or smoking because it dries your cords right the fuck out. Lukewarm water, a little push down in the diaphragm and gut area and learning how to manipulate your soft palate will get ya some grit.

yeah the mic is too close to the guitar so it really sounds "boomy"
amaurythewarrior 9 months ago
vocals need more growl. Smoke a cig and take 2 shots before.
Mic is about 2-3'' to close to the sound hole.

@mrweems Thanks for the tip on the distance. Not sure about taking up smoking though lol
