Ok, as someone who did this in the beta too, I'd like to say that unless the website is mistaken you can still do this. This is a 6x scope not a 12x, and it's still available to all after 125 kills with the 870. That being said I haven't used the shotgun much on live

Snipers haven't really been nerfed, they just had to get a change in tactics. They actually did something I'm happy about by making the Recon class actually suited for RECON and equipping them with stuff for RECON, but still able to take those long distance shots when they can/need to. Although people that played BC2 are going to notice that the bullet drop is more severe especially with suppressors and the velocity seems like it's about half of what it used to be- maybe not though

@KonaRSMV There's a difference between camping and strategic objective defense. Camping is going to the same spot OVER AND OVER AND OVER just to kill a few people as soon as they run around a corner. Strategic defense is moving around an area and blocking off the area so attackers can't get through your choke point, thus minimizing their ability to get to your objective and blow it up.

I did get a decent amount of kills, but since i never moved, i assume the glare gave me away and they started shooting RPGs and blowing up my cover. I moved to a different floor but got knifed from behind. You get about 2-3 minutes max before your scope starts giving you away.

Sadly for those of you thinking that "sniping" people from insane distance like in BC2... DICE has already put their foot down and stated that you will not be able to do so. Believe me, I tried in the BETA and the slug accuracy drops so fast the further out you go. To give you an idea: Standing on the Antenna tower on Caspian and trying to hit someone at that small guardtower by the fences directly to your left was rather difficult, muchless getting a headshot on them.

@raddpuppy70 Not realistic enough, seeing as a good hit from 50 meters with buckshot will basically result in death for the target, and can reach up to 75-100 meters before losing enough kinetic energy to be harmless.

Oh, and to the person who pointed out that magnum slugs are roughly equal to a .308, slug rounds are much larger, and carry a lot more momentum. They can easily penetrate through bone due to the slug shape, and can cause huge wound channels to form.
