es la mejor pelicula romantica que he visto y su banda sonora es fantastica si tuviera que darle una nota a la pelicula del 1 al 10 le daria un 11 maravillosa
I don't think the ending is sad! Dracula isn't suffering anymore, and when Mina dies, she will join him in heaven, that's quite clear. So they will end up together:))
she was perfect for this role... wynona ryder ftw. gary oldman's best acting by far. i never felt so in luv with dracula as this movie got to me. lolz
Damn Gary Oldman can do anything; from Sid Viscous in Sid and Nancy to a gangsta pimp in True Romance, to a psychotic cop in Leon, to a futuristic business tycoon in Fifth Element, to Sirius Black in Harry Potter to even freaking Commissioner Gordon in Batman. Where the hell is his Oscar? Even in crap like Red Riding Hood and Lost in Space he shines, he's even good at delivering a line like "The ogre's butt!"...
I did not see Part 3? However , I finally got the real VCD here after taking me some days to find it out! It was the movie when I was 12 years and I did not know about this movie til I found it by accident on Youtube... and I am in love deeply.... Love Never Dies...
Love part 1/2, I live in the US and I can't believe that Sony took it off for copyright, when you didn't even copyright against it. This is amazing movie and has been in my top movie list for years <3
The scene with him turning her tears into diamonds is actually a reference to Jean Cocteau's version of Beauty and the Beast. Coppola's entire film was meant to be more of a tribute to older techniques. In my personal opinion some of those little references like this one could have been avoided because it doesn't really work in the context of the film (you would think she'd question how he did that), but I get where he was coming from.
@balrog13571 Oh, I didn't know about Beauty and the Beast reference, thank you. Still it makes it for me, and this "how he did that" feeling makes this scene even more mysterious.
Fair enough. I would recommend checking out that Beauty and the Beast film as well if you liked this. You can find it here on Youtube under it's original French title "La Belle et La Bete". It's a very interesting film, and it's easy to see from watching it how much this film owes to it.
@MoonlightAoAO Are Edward and Bella in love in the Twilight books? YES!
Are Mina and Dracula in love in Bram Stoker's novel? HELL NO!!!
Sorry, you can say what you want about Twilight, but at least it's more faithful to the source material. Dracula has about as much in common with this movie as Charlaine Harris' books have with True Blood. True Blood may push Bill/Sookie, but it's all Eric/Sookie in the books, just like it's all Jonathan/Mina in Bram Stoker's novel.
@44excalibur Technically, what Edward and Bella have is not "love". It's stalker and stalkee. :D
Even if this movie isn't true to the book, it's still better than all of Twilight. Just because the Twilight movies are more true to their books, doesn't mean that they are any good.
Besides, in the novel, Dracula is barely in it and his character is rather weak. I like the movie!Dracula. Even if he is overly romantic. <3
@ilovemyman001 Of course Dracula is barely in the novel, because the novel is about Jonathan and Mina, not Dracula. That should have been obvious from the fact that their journal entries make up the majority of the book, which is told from their point of view. What I don't like about this movie is its mistreatment of Jonathan and Mina. If you read the book you should know what I mean. Movies rarely ever get their relationship right, but as a fan, this one was a slap in the face to me.
@44excalibur True. But Jack Seward and Van Helsing had a good portion of the book to themselves too. I never saw the novel as about just Jonathan and Mina. Rather, I saw it as from the point of view of almost everyone who was directly involved with Dracula. I do know what you mean, but I could never bring myself to like Jonathan. He was always kind of boring to me. Both in the movie and the novel. :P
@ilovemyman001 And I probably should have mentioned this before (I don't know why I didn't) but the Twilight movies actually did leave out a lot of the books. That's why a lot of my friends are fans of the books, but despise the movie. And even if this movie changed so much from the novel, the actors were still fantastic. I can't say that about Twilight. I can't say anything about True Blood because I can't bring myself to continue it. D:
@ilovemyman001 Wow, then you missed the whole point of Stoker's novel, about a young couple going through the worst trial anyone could go through; the loss of each other. I was deeply moved by Mina's anxiety over Jonathan's disappearance in Transylvania, and how she later begged Van Helsing to kill her if she became a threat to Jonathan; also when Jonthan told Van Helsing he would willingly become a vampire himself rather then let Mina spend eternity alone. I'm sorry you didn't appreciate that.
@44excalibur My apologies for failing to see the novel the way you do. It has been a while since I've read it, but both time and personal experiences change the way I see things. Don't presume to tell me what I do or do not appreciate.
@ilovemyman001 You said that time and personal experiences change the way you see things, and appreciating a story has a lot to do with point of view. You said you found Jonathan, boring, and he and Mina are the protagonists. Other characters also have journal entries(Seward, Lucy, Van Helsing) but Mina and Jonathan's make up the majority of the book. I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way, but I was merely stating that from your point of view you missed what Stoker was saying about them.
Who the heck is this "Edward" of whom you speak, and what does he have to do with Gary Oldman's outstanding portrayal of Dracula? Guess I gotta get hip, so please also
define your abbreviations "PWNS" and "FTW". You're allotted ample character spaces; why not just state the whole words? I know what "WTF?" means!! I get it - you probably do much texting on your cell phone, and maybe you forgot you have lots more space here or something? I just don't get it
@starchildstrider "FTW" means "for the win"... xD Sorry for confusing you. I do understand your confusion as well, because honestly, I never used to know what that meant either. :P
Plus, Edward is just some type of mediocre character compared to Gary Oldman's pure amazing-ness.~<3
and "PWNS just means that the character is just way more awesome than most. Sorry for the mild confusion... ^^;
Wow, thank you, MoonlightAoAO; for explaining those things to me. You & I are on the same page regarding Gary Oldman - he is a superb & diverse actor; and one of my very favorites as well. I am a fiercely loyal devotee of Bela Lugosi, the original Dracula from c1932 - he had a depth of character that was not evident in his Dracula movies. BUT - Gary Oldman's portrayal was so outstanding - his Dracula really creeped me out!
@starchildstrider yea he speaks almost with our romanian accent.., and he know som romanian words,is much coolerand i canunderstnd them hy hy as im an carpathian
You are "Carpathian" - I like to say that word! It flows nicely. I am not at all familiar with
the way of life you have in Poland. Do you enjoy your day-to-day life there? All of us being able to talk from all parts of the world here thru YouTube - because of the great computer technology is a wonderful thing! We type, we click "post", and we can talk from one end of Earth to another - we are so lucky to live in these times, aren't we?
You speak very good English - do you learn that on your own, or do they teach you to speak English in school? I like to learn about how people live in other countries.
Ohh, you lucky stiff, Moonlight! Right on! Yes, that movie haunts me, in a way; you know what I mean? It was very well done; the direction; the acting. Even though the character "Dracula" is kind of sinister, the way Gary Oldman portrays the character compels me to feel empathy for Dracula's endless longing for Mina. Then, he finds her; and they kill him in the end and they are separated again.
@starchildstrider Yes, and I'm very sad to say I cryed when it ended. My mom was puzzled. She asked why're you crying? God accepted him again! He's not suffering! And I explained that he shouldn't of died, I was rooting for them to win in their vampirism! But of course, they lost... Sigh... Stupid Keeanu Reeves... Its a movie I'll never forget, to say the least. :3
@MoonlightAoAO - Yes, I was rooting for them too, Moonlight - I guess we wanted them to live "happily ever after." They both went thru such extraordinary ordeals to finally come together once more. I think perhaps what touches us so about them is the extreme love they held for each other; unwaveringly; thru the tests of time. The love & loyalty they shared & exchanged was unusually intense & so unquestionably real. I'm trying to fully grasp why we are so moved by them.
@wahinesurfergirl " I am not happy about the rebirth of the Jesuits. Swarms of them will present themselves with more disguises ever taken by even a chief of the Bohemians - as printers, writers, school teachers, etc. If ever an association of people deserved eternal damnation, on this earth and in hell, it is this Society of Loyola (1816).
His portrayal of all that is sensual and seductive about Dracula is devastating.
